I'd be a bit worried that the pro would say he didn't understand why it wasn't going 30 yards further. If anybody would know - it should be him, especially considering he can see all the stats from the tracking system and should be able to interpret them for you.
He might just be trying to sell you a new driver - if he is, he isn't being completely honest with you as it might be nothing to do with the equipment and more to do with your swing with the driver as has been mentioned.

This has me more puzzled the more I think about it.
Think about it this way.
Average driving distance of a medium hitting pro on tour is probably around 280-290, and that includes roll.
According to the pro you saw how far should they be hitting a 3 iron? 190-200? Never in a million.

a good 3-iron (rare) is pretty close to an average drive (discounting all those in the trees) - works for me
