Just been to MIZUNO custom fit centre in surrey.............BUT.

Surefire - you a trick cyclist?

Not at all, just a random observation really.

just from reading many threads here, it seems we try and rationalise an irrational decision to make it acceptable, or justifiable. Why not just say "These clubs performed better, but I prefer these ones so I will buy them, end of."?

I bought the 53's recently and although a lovely looking club- and shiny- I found it too thick a top line and sole, so now gone with the MP69's - even shinier- for feel, control, feedback etc
Remember if you have a bad swing at the ball no club on the planet will correct that swing, so def go with what you like the look of and feel more comfortable with, it's half the battle as golfs between the ears before you strike. What shafts is he recommending for each and what's your 6 iron swing speed?

I kind of disagree with the sentiment about the mental side of golf.
I don't doubt that it's important, but firstly you need the technical side to be right.

It's no good being confident if your swing mechanics are so bad, every shot is a slice that goes 75 yards to the right.

Once you've got the mechanics to a decent level, then the mental side and confidence becomes much more important.

"Remember if you have a bad swing at the ball no club on the planet will correct that swing" ...I completely agree with that and what it boils down to is WHEN you do make a bad swing how does the result differ between the different clubs for you? Because that is also swing/player dependant

Nippon N.S. Pro 1150Gh Tour stiff. My ball speed was around 80mph.

the Nippon is quite a spinny shaft afaik, and is regarded as a mid launch shaft, with that swing speed its not a bad choice but I'm no expert, did he let you try the DG's? a bit heavier but purely IMO a far superior shaft
