Just back from Gleneagles

Chances are you will be wearing your jackets, it's not summer after all. Stuff your pockets full of food and then when you have eaten you have nothing to carry. Make life easier for yourselves.

Mrs to the rescue, she's found me a bag that fits a sarnie, car keys and little else. Sure it looks a bit like a handbag but needs must!

There is very little checking of bag size as far as I saw today, I had a full size backpack as did many others and none were challenged.

you're in Scotland and you don't let me know- I'm hurt:ears:

I'm sorry darling, I didn't want you to find out like this ...

Another busy day and supposed to be double the amount of people tomorrow! Treating myself to a mini-lie in until 8 in the morning before emails then heading down to the course for around midday.

Barring a few holes (for the celebrity matches today) there's only one set of tees laid out at the moment. They are a long long way back.

Anyway, an update on the security situation from my own point of view as I'm back from there today. It's basically fine, there is airport style security in place between the car parks and buses. You're given a plastic bag to put your belongings in and all bags were being scanned. There were no size checks that I could see and there were plenty of people around with bags much bigger than 12 inches in any dimension. So I was a bit miffed at having to make do with my tiny-teeny "manbag". That said however, I spoke to a chap handing out the plastic bags and he said that they have been increasing the security checks and doing more enforcement each day as the week progresses.

The ticket situation is very relaxed. I was checked for my ticket once just before boarding the bus. It was scanned with a barcode scanner and that was it. They didn't check photos or ID and I didn't have to have it on display in any way for the rest of the day. I guess it'll be different tomorrow, who knows. I find the situation a bit weird, I don't like being told to abide by rules and for them then not to be enforced, with other people blatantly disregarding them around me. Harumph!

On a more positive note, the setup at Gleneagles is absolutely superb. The course looks fantastic and the infrastructure they have in place is easily the best outdoor event I've ever seen setup. It really is looking incredible and there's a brilliant atmosphere around the whole place.

The prices aren't too horrendous but could be a bit better. I didn't feel too badly ripped off, it's £5 a pint of Guinness or Lager, which sounds bad but I've often paid more than that in pubs, hotels and bars around and about. Food prices were basically £5 upwards depending on your choice. A cup of tea is £2 - again this is expensive but not ludicrous.

The players all look in good form but my hot tip from today is that Ricky Fowler looked incredible. He surprised me with how good he was looking in comparison to everyone else. He made his practice group look like a pro-am event on the two holes I watched them through. On the European side, Poulter looked to be absolutely bursting with energy and decent form, it's great to see him like that. Whilst Garcia and McIlory both looked super relaxed and dangerous.

Tomorrow I'm up and leaving the house at 5am to do it all for a second time and see things kick off at 7:45. Can't wait. :D

Really looking forward to tomorrow, I'm on the first hole as a marshal and will be stationed at either the tee (please god be nice) or the green. Seems like a win win but the atmosphere on the first tee this morning was fantastic and can only imagine it's increased 10 fold on match days.

If they tell me my standard issue rucksack holding my waterproofs and a few sandwiches is too big they'll be chewing on it, the wife's got a wardrobe full of handbags that are bigger than 12x12x12
