Hi,
I want to try some bigger grips, as I had wrist surgery earlier this year and smaller grips feel like I am having to choke the grip all the time. Having played racket sports to a good level I just realised that none of my rackets had small grips on. The downside is that I live in Brazil now and basically have no access to try out any grips and the next time I will be able to play is when I visit South Africa later in this year. I have done some research and narrowed it down to either the Jumbomax jmx ultra lite jumbo grip as suggested on their fitting tool, or the mcc midsize having previously played mcc grips for many years before. Any suggestions between the two of these choices, any help, would be much appreciated.

My opinion.....go big. I have small hands and I moved to midsize grips which I found a lot more comfortable. Then went oversize which I found better and more comfortable. I have tried Jumbomax small grips 5 years or so ago and went back to a slightly smaller grip although I'm starting to get more arthritis in my hands now so I'm likely to go back to the big ones again at some point. It takes some adjusting since it does throw your golf shots off a little bit, but nothing that can't be adjusted to. Also.....I tend NOT to be really active with my hands and the larger grips make this easier. If you really like whipping your hands around the smaller grips might work better.

I use MCC mids on everything but the driver. I recently changed driver and stuck with its installed grip, because it was working but now it’s worn out I will move it to the jumbo lite or mcc mid.
I find the larger grips relax my forearm muscles because I am not having to hold on to it. I would also argue that the wrist and release stuff is unaffected by grip size from a perspective of whipping through.. by this I mean you as a golfer should not consciously whip or roll because that timing is hard to maintain. The wrist/release should be just a part of your swing or a consequence.. holding off is possible but that’s for different shots.
So back to grips, MCC feels soft and cushion like .. a nice feeling. The jumbo feels okay but not as cushion like . I would say the hand sits on it where as MCC the hand feels absorbed (strange, sorry) .. I think the MCC offers more contact patch and deeper engagement.. from technical perspective ..

Best way do one club with jumbo grip and see if you like it.
I was on Monday getting fitted for driver shaft ended up with all my clubs re griped to mcc4 midsize from standard.
What a difference, playing 4/5 times a week my hands feeling so much better.

I do tend to be very handsy when it come to racket sports, trouble is with golf it tends to lead me to over draw or push the ball when I hold onto the swing to ensure I don’t over draw the ball. I think I will go midsize to try and quiet the hands.

I think I will go midsize, it’s not to much of a jump in size and hopefully it will work.

I started my golf journey a year ago and, after buying some secondhand clubs to begun with, I found the need to replace the grips fairly early on. I tried a few and ended up with the MCC Midsize Align (I think that's correct! 😂).

Suddenly found that my hands were far less sore after a busy week (3 or more rounds) and my slice turned into a "power fade"!

Now down from 36 to 21 and my new irons are also sporting the same grips with no thoughts of changing at all.

All.ofbthat said, the Align feature is utterly useless as I just cannot feel it at all. Having had two sets of these grips installed by two different fitters, both coming highly recommended, I have come to the conclusion that it is a bit of a gimmick!

Be careful about grip size , too big can lead to pushed shots.

Cheapest way to try is to add extra layers of tape.

I tend to go thicker on my wedges only, currently using Golf Pride CP2, range of size thickness available.

I tried one of the jumbomax grips. Killed feel and I didn't feel completely in control. Now on MCC midsize with 3 layers of tape👍

I’ve had a wrist problem for a while now and have gone JumboMax large in all my clubs.
As per the JumboMax fitting app.
I wear a large glove.🧤

Long game is great I have total control over my woods.

Irons so so the one thing in my irons is I have lost some accuracy and can miss both ways, so think there isn’t a push with bigger grips but it quietens your wrists down and maybe slows down the release of the club.
But this could just be me not the grips as I’m working on my swing.

Short game they are fantastic and take the wrists out of everything . Stops flipping.

I’ve even put one on my putter it’s brilliant as all clubs have the same grip.

The biggest thing I’ve found is the change in my grip.
JumboMax fit more in your palm than your fingers and this has had a huge benefit to my wrist and fingers.

My advice is the one the fitting on the app says should be fine but just try the one below as well .
I’m going to do this over winter to see if it helps my iron accuracy or it’s just me being a 😂 crap iron player

I see most pros use standard or even undersized grips. Why has the fascination with midsize grips not taken over on the tour?

Scottie Scheffler apparently uses 6 layers of tape which would take the grip to a something in between a midsize and a jumbo. The pros will use equipment which isn’t always available to the normal person. It’s down to personal feel, I am looking for something large than standard as I want to relax my grip on the club rather than choking it.

I would buy a few different ones and try them out .
There’s not really a fitting market for grips.
But as it’s the thing your holding maybe it should be top of the list in a fitting.

I am a little limited for golf shops here in Brazil, but understand your point of view. It’s a feel thing and something that suits me won’t necessarily suit yourself.
