JPX850 - Baptism of Fire!

250+ now that is impressive. Longer than the Tour average of Lydia Ko Morgan Pressel, Natalie Gulbis, Karrie Webb. Keep practicing there is a career out there for you on Tour.

Yeah, but that's the good ones, not my average by any means! Also wind assisted for some and quite firm fairways at the moment as well.

I did come close to driving the greens on the 10th (275 yards, cross wind) and 16th (285 yards, slightly uphill but wind assisted) holes. Within 5 yards both times. Best drives I've ever hit on those holes so the JPX is getting some love at the moment.

Playing a comp tonight and quite looking forward to seeing if I can keep it up. Only problem is that I can't hit an iron to save my life at the moment. :(

Good ones. Not hit a good shot myself all year! Good luck tonight.

Hybrids are definitely the answer. I resisted for ages, but I now have 2 hybrids which have replaced my 5-wood and 3-iron. Working well at the moment.

It's only a temporary blip but I mean any full shot with ANY iron - even a PW. Something's gone badly wrong! Very frustrating but I think I sorted it a bit towards the end of last night's round. I'll find out tonight!

So my X2 Hot is, indeed, no longer under warranty. I've had it for about 18 months. AG are sending it back to Callaway anyway to see what they say about it. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a result but more in hope than expectation.

Meantime, I'll be "gaming" the JPX850.....

I've played a few rounds with the JPX850 now and I must admit I find myself giving it some love. If callaway do come good and fix the other driver it's by no means certain it'll go back in the bag!

Not a breath of wind tonight and I managed to drive the green on the short (255 yard) second hole - haven't managed do that for a couple of years. (Even holed the eagle putt!) Plus I hit a lot of long drives, longer than that one in fact, and only missed one fairway so pretty good accuracy too.

If I could just rediscover some ball striking ability with the irons I'd be dangerous!

glad its slightly better for you now than before.

It's really not a good head and terrible shafts, Mizuno make very poor drivers. Irons are sublime but drivers are made poorly and just dont compete with the main brands imo

I certainly didn't get on with it initially but having used it for a few rounds with a more repeatable swing than earlier in the year I'm actually quite impressed. Hitting it miles at the moment, honestly!

I can't believe you had it sitting there for so long.

The 850 was a complete departure from poorly made mizuno drivers. Mp650 wasn't bad but the adjustability in the 850 is superb.

Didn't want to switch in the middle of the season, especially when I was driving it so well. Always intended to give it another go round about now but still have some big events left to play in so it'd probably still be gathering dust if I hadn't broken the other one.

Hit it miles last night... No wind and I didn't have GPS so couldn't measure any but, for example.. 1st Hole - 417 yards, drive and 9 iron. 2nd Hole - 255 yards, drove to the middle of the green, 3rd Hole, 301 yards, drive and a chip, 4th Hole - 362 yards, drive and pitching wedge, 5th Hole - 361 yards, drive and pitching wedge.

Yeah, it's getting some love.

Lol I wish I hit it like a girl too. I can get it out there but I bet you are a lot straighter than me. ;)

In some ways! ;)

Yeah, didn't miss a fairway yesterday either. Except the dog leg 7th where I hit three wood with a draw round the corner but still ran out of room!

Some days, though, I can be spraying it all over the place!

I'm a recent convert to using a 3 wood. If I don't have to hit driver now I won't.

I can get the 3 wood in the fairway 9 times out of 10. Driver stats are nowhere near that but much longer when hit well.

There is only one criticism I would have of the jpx850 because it is nearly Perfect. There is too much scope for changing the loft. It goes from 7.5 to 11.5 .

In doing this it opens and closes the face. You can't for example have it at 7.5 and close the face.

They should have made different heads like most other companies do. This would allow you to have open club faces with high loft and also closed face with low loft.

One head saves on production cost but at a slight loss to the product itself.

I've been battling a hook with the fairway woods. Sorted now, hopefully, but for a while there I was hitting driver even on short, tight holes because I felt I had more chance of finding the fairway! :o

Tried one again last night around Fortrose, though prob not the best place to try is as there are only 6 holes you can really hit driver on.

Had the Speeder upgrade shaft in, went a bit better than the Callaway I'm using at the moment, also set to 7.5 with the weights on the sides for forgiveness.

might have to treat myself, told the upgrade charge will stop from Sept as there will be a new driver soon.
