Hi Going to Jersey in April with the wife , has anybody got any hotel recommendations they can pass on so i can have an idea of a good place to stay anywhere on the iseland

cheers

I lived in Jersey for three years. A lot of very good hotels, but it depends on your budget. Also do you want to stay in St Helier, or out of town. St Brelades is one of the nicest spots, hotel on the beach but it is expensive. Are you taking your clubs, if so try and get a game at La Moye.

cheers for replies, to be honest doesnt matter where we stay on the island we are going to hire a car, price range not too expensive , and as for golf , would love to but with playing over the bank holiday weekend when we come back better not push it too much :(

Jersey hotels are expensive. Have a look for hotels in St Brelades. Lovely beach, gardens walks, and it is quiet only 10/15minutes from St Helier. Most places are no more than 20 minutes !! Be careful when driving, as roads are very narrow, and most have stone walls on the side.

More to the point, be careful when parking. Very strict on parking all over the island. You must buy the parking scratch cards from local shops. They are needed on all car parks, no facilities for paying at individual car parks. I am a regular traveller to Jersey, as my daughter has lived there for the last 10 years.

If you like dining out you are one of the best places. Also Jersey is not in the EU, so take advantage of the duty free.

La Moye as previously mentioned is the only course on the Island I've not played

I would actually stay in St Helier, means you don't have to drive in the evenings and can enjoy a few drinks. When I used to go out there on business a lot, the place to drink was The Chambers, one of the liveliest pubs in town. Used to have live music every night, don't know if that is still the case. Some very good restaurants in SH as well. If you can get a deal, the Grand is a nice hotel on the front just 5 mins walk from the pubs and eateries.

LOVE Jersey. We went a few years ago for 3 nights and hired a car and visited the whole island. Beautiful place.

We stayed at the Apollo in St Helier which was ok, pretty standard, smallish rooms, nothing fancy but does have a car park and is fairly close to town. We had a fantastic meal at the Royal Yacht which was very expensive but well worth it as a treat. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in St Helier and also plenty to do all over the island.

Stayed in this hotel a couple of years ago and found it, and its facilities, to be first rate. Only a short walk from the centre of St Hellier too:

My daughter stayed there when she went to Jersey with her swimming club. More of a family hotel, so not so sure if best for romantic couples.:)

You could always let the wife have a look round Jersey Pottery, and sneak a game in at the Royal near Gorey. Great sea food restaurants everywhere.

You might find the Grand on the expensive side. We used to drink in the Yacht, and i would then stagger home through the tunnel. Great place to be single.

TBH, whilst it has the facilities to be that, it is also fine for couples. Out of school holidays then it is mercifully free of kids. It has a number of bars to suit your mood, plus if you are going all the way to Jersey then you aren't really going to spend that much time in it. Food was excellent too.

Stayed in St Helier two years ago. The buses were fantastic for getting around the island, seemed a bit of a waste of time hiring a car. It's so easy to walk around St Helier on an evening and the beaches are very close. Was a little disappointed with the pubs in the town though.

Your wife won't be pleased if you play golf while she visits the pottery. As the pottery is now closed and Jersey pottery is now made in England

But Royal Jersey is a nice course, provided your minted enough to play it
