The Witchery Restaurant on Castlehill. Great atmosphere but maybe a bit pricey.
If you are looking for stuff to do, The Johnny Walker Experience is really good. Thanks chaps, I’ve booked The Witchery, I tried The Scran and Scallie but they were booked up already (Valentines day and Calcutta Cup weekend)
We are visiting for 4 days so will definitely be trying a couple of the other suggestions.![]()
Thanks, sounds right up my alley but not sure the Mrs would agree! It’s our first visit so we will mainly be doing touristy stuff. Mooching around the Royal Mile, visiting the Castle and Arthur’s seat etc.If you are looking for stuff to do, The Johnny Walker Experience is really good.
My missus loved it, and she's not a whisky drinker. It's on Princes St. They have spent a fortune on this, it's over 4 or 5 floors, each with interactive displays as well as guides and actors. you get to make your own whisky cocktails as well as trying their different blends. There is also a rooftop bar / restaurant with great views (you need to book that separately). Thanks, sounds right up my alley but not sure the Mrs would agree! Pop into the Royal Bank of Scotland building on Princes St, it is slightly set back. It is a beautiful building. You will only be in there a few minutes but if it is your first time in Edinburgh, you will be passing it anyway..........Thanks, sounds right up my alley but not sure the Mrs would agree! I’ve had a little read about the JW experience and it does look very interesting, I’m going to suggest it at the next Edinburgh Trip meetingMy missus loved it, and she's not a whisky drinker. The Royal Yacht Britannia is also well worth a visit, easy to get to on the tram. For outdoors stuff, walk up Calton Hill, easily reached on foot from the city centre.
Makers mash is only a 5 min walk from where your staying, its quality food and very reasonably priced , and as I say haggis is delicious, it’s always busy so you need to book, but I would say it’s better for lunch than a special night out.
You probably had to be there but the wife couldn't remember the name and referred to that as Henry's Chair. Thanks, sounds right up my alley but not sure the Mrs would agree! Do you mean the main office on St Andrews Square? Only RBS building I can think of on Princes Street is the branch at the West end.Pop into the Royal Bank of Scotland building on Princes St, it is slightly set back. It is a beautiful building. Mate that’s just the sort of silliness that my wife would come out with, that’s why after nearly 30 years I adore her.You probably had to be there but the wife couldn't remember the name and referred to that as Henry's Chair.
Sorry, yes you are correct. I don't know Edinburgh that well, my memory was playing tricks.Do you mean the main office on St Andrews Square? Only RBS building I can think of on Princes Street is the branch at the West end.
More on this, last year coming back from Cornwall on the A303 she said “look it’s Stonehenge”.. in the far distance in the fading light I could just see some shapes… as we got closer it was obvious it was just CowsYou probably had to be there but the wife couldn't remember the name and referred to that as Henry's Chair.
