You can talk about your game with me, anytime, I'm cool with that. I'm also impressed you are confident with your short stock distances.

I use the 105-110 as a secure answer to give myself the max chance. The other day we reached the 15th, and I hadn't drained a birdie yet. It's about 325 off the matt. I hit a deliberate fade (3W) to the ridge that runs at 108 from the centre. I was 30 yds short of the driver brigade.

Flew it 5 ft past the flag and drained the putt. The other guys were sruggling for par after coming up short/long with the 'tweener wedges. On the last, I went with 5W and found my divot from 3 days before....amazing. I think it's the way to go...but then again Faldo makes a big deal of it in his books.

when i play practise rounds i hit driver all the time so i get to practise the 55 and 38 yard kinda shots. I done well today i got 6 pars. got up and down which is cool. hit my wedges pin high but pulled a few left, done an awesome chip on the 5th. as the rain came down my glasses steamed up and got wet which really hacks me off. i finished 17 and 18 par par which is well good. i left the golf course with a couple of good shot memories.
i notice i tend to get back to back pars when i par holes, before it used to be maybe one on 3 and another on 15 so im getting little runs going.

Got another easy day tomorrow work till 11.45 then off to the range.
going to work on my weight transfer then i got a short game lesson at 1.30

Thats a hell of an ask!!! The regulars here know I have had a number of lessons over the Summer (and di a blog covering a month of my competitivie play) and managed to get down from 20 to 15. The problem is now the dark nights are here and I can't get out to tweak my swing if there is a problem or sharpen my shortgame I've stalled and treading water at the moment.

I think you will be able to match (probably beat) me and lose 5 or more shots especially if it clicks (as it did for me shooting a net 63). However as the more proficient golfers have mentioned you can only get so far without attention to the short game and regular practice.

For my money use the winter the sharpen your game from 100 yards in and then maybe in the spring get your swing hones so it can stand up to pressure (yes really!). It is a different ball game with a medal card in your hand, especially the final few holes with a good round going.

If you are looking for a course to play what you have to remember that if you pick one that is too easy it will soon become boring and not a challenge and your game will become lazy. If you pick one that is too hard for your standard you will become frustrated if you do not come down as quickly as you want. You need to find one with a sufficient year round challenge that you can still get it round competitively even if you are not playing well
