Bloody bleeding effing pc is acting up again and I need it badly today:rolleyes:

Blue screen of death twice this morning and it said to disable antivirus and run a disk check, set that up and rebooted, it checked stage 1 and 2 then at stage 3 it said it compacting security folders.....a swift hour later it still said that so I turned it off and on reboot i said start in safe mode with networking. It loaded win 32 drivers then sits waiting doing SFA:(

Manually turn off then on reboot it wants to do the scan disc again, if I say no I get a black screen with the cursor visible and it stays like that until my patience erupts and I turn it off again.

Help........please

BSoD still happens on Windows 7.

BSoD not necessarily disaster - even if disk related.

And wasn't windows 7 the most unstable os ever coded, Microsoft should offer all users a free upgrade to windows 8.

All I can suggest is try safe mode another couple of times and if no luck then find a local PC repair centre. If by some miracle it works in safe mode then do a disk cleanup, virus scan then defrag

Er. No! At least not for most applications. Win 95 tended to take that 'award'! Any NT based O/S was/is pretty stable.

SSD Drive shouldn't appear on list of De-Fraggable Drives but occasionally does.

Safe re-boot (repeat as necessary) may help. Trusted PC Repair shop is next step. bSoD Can be Driver (update) related too - s/b identifiable by actual message.

Is all your data on the SSD? I mean is it the only drive in your PC, or just your system drive?

You could try a system repair, put the Win7 CD/DVD in and when it prompts, press any key to boot from CD, should that work, you will get an option to install or repair, try the repair option, or if you are certain there is no data on the drive that you need you could do the install option and reformat the drive and build windows from fresh.

Doing the format will wipe all data from the hard drive, only use this option if you have made a backup or are certain that there is no data on it you need.

I'm not being condescending by using the large red font, just making a point and covering my ass :D

Posts must have crossed, try rebooting with any USB devices disconnected and see how far that gets you, leave you keyboard in, you need that.

Yeah you can do a restore through cmd (rstrui.exe from memory). You will need to choose that option when switching on the go through the commands. You can also do it in safe mode if you get that far.

You could always try PCHF, they've got me out of trouble on more than one occasion!

They are here http://www.pchelpforum.com/

Registration is free and they fix machines for free! If you can get onto the web, give them a go ............... I think they're awesome.
They also have a section dedicated to people who've suffered from a BSOD in Windows 7.

Thanks guys, managed to do all you say, system restore fails no matter what previous date I use. An unspecified error occurred (0x800700b7)

Start up repair cannot find a problem.

I think there's a back door malware thingy stopping all this start up, while it squirrels away collecting all my personal data, disconnected it from Internet now then going to take a hammer to it, anyway to run malware prog that's installed even though I can't start up the offending pc?

That's no problem with PCHF. If your on the web with another PC/laptop, you can download the programmes they suggest onto a memory stick & then put them onto the faulty kit ................ and then run. All reports & logs can then be copied back onto said memory stick, loaded onto your good PC/laptop and then uploaded to your PCHF posts for analysis.
Honestly CMAC, it's surely worth a try!

I'm on via iPad I'm afraid, if I can get to a mates house and download anti malware type progs how on earth do I run them on a PC that won't start, not even in safe mode?

I get a black screen with the cursor!

I followed a YouTube tetchy who went into the registry and I see my start up logon instead of Explorer.exe says cmd.exe /k Cmd.exe

And the userinit has an X: as opposed to a C: then the values.

I change both these but on reboot they have gone back to as above. Won't save at all.

The hammer is now on my desk

I've really no idea as I'm no expert ................. but PCHF are.
It won't cost anything to post your problem on their forum, you never know, someone might have an answer ............. it's definitely worth a few minutes to find out. Then use the hammer!

No fun in that ;) Hacking is easy.

The problem with messing with the registry is it is VERY easy to misplace something. Not that that has happened to me or I never managed to delete my MBR messing with partitions.

Do you not have a disc for doing a factory restore on your system? You would lose your data but at least your pooter would be operational again.

There is free software out there for making clones of discs, it might be of use. Prodiscover is one that I know of. After that I know not a lot more but it does seem easy enough to use. It might mean taking the hard drive out of the original machine. That said it might just be easier taking it to a pooter man.
