is this man fit to be our Ryder Cup Captan

If Europe win, he will be a hero, if we lose then god help him!

But isnt that the same with any captain

Hero or Zero No middle ground

No well played, bad luck ....... you are a loser and we hate you

its a great job until it/if goes belly up (considering Mr Montgomerie's physique I use the words advisidly)

As bad as the job of Prime Minister when everyone hates you.

Leave the bloke alone, he has a job to do, its too late to change, all the stuff about his private life has petered out.

Let him get on with the job and rally round and support the team coz all that matters is that we wup those yankies

YEE HAR!!!

Fragger
Southern Meet 2010 Nearest The Pin Champ

Well said Fragger, I work for his wifes family company as I have said before, and hopefully it will all blow over, not because of the Ryder Cup but for the sake of his adopted family. We all make a mistake in life but this has just added fuel to the anti monty brigade in my opinion. An extremeley talented golfer who deserved his chance, so let's give him it.
ps - I'm not his press officer :D

Well well well, so this is what it is (could be!!) all about.

No wonder he is playing badly. How can you play well with all that on your mind.

Irrespective of the truth of all this, how can this man continue in the job? All we should be concentrating on is winning the RC and he is the cause of all these distractions.

Good excuse if they dont win. It will be all the press's fault.

A lepoard does not change his spots.

The singapore cheat, the man who shouts at camermen, the man who cheats on his new wife.

IMO, He is not fit to have this prestigous role.

Old news,it has been covered in another thread.

He is the best and only man for the role.So he's been putting the wand around, big deal.Do you honestly think that it is only him and Tiger that have been balls deep while on tour....I would suggest not.

He will lead Europe to win back the Ryder Cup from the Yanks.

Actually i dont care what he does in his sex life.

The papers make a big deal about it all as it is tittle tattle, but if he like a bit of S & M....so what.

I have always said the public will always forget and forgive sex storys, its body building drug taking that they will not forgive. Thats what Woods has in the background and has to defend.

But with Monty, what i dont like is that instead of just fronting up, he gets these gagging orders (no pun intended!) and then tells people he has not done that.

You just cant believe the man. And with all the cheating etc, thats why he should go.

As an alternative at short notice Bernard Langer comes to mind

Next on the agenda is the following......

The Ryder Cup is turning into an episode of Home and Away. Thomas Bjorn, Europe’s vice captain and chairman of the players’ tournament committee, is reported to have fathered a daughter with an Australian air-stewardess. Bjorn has been married since 1998 and has three children by that marriage.
The five-year affair ended in December last year when Dagmara Leniartek, 33, informed Bjorn that she was pregnant with his baby, according to reports in the Danish media. Bjorn denied he was the father but the Danish media reported that DNA tests proved otherwise.
It may of course be a brilliant and selfless ruse to distract attention from Europe’s captain Colin Montgomerie, who was reported also to have had an affair earlier this year. Montgomerie has been subject to further snickering this week after more rumours about his private life circulated in the days before the US PGA Championship.
In the unlikely event that Montgomerie decided to resign, Bjorn has been discussed as a possible replacement. That would seem impossible now. Bjorn could no longer be seen as a safe pair of hands and he is not the most popular man in Wales after criticising Ian Woosnam in the lead-up to the 2006 Ryder Cup.
After Woosnam omitted the Dane from his team four years ago, Bjorn accused Woosnam of "not having leadership qualities” and called his captaincy “the most pathetic I have ever seen.” Some Welsh golf fans have never forgiven Bjorn that slight.
The IMG website describes Bjorn as “a great ambassador for his country and European golf.” Six months ago Montgomerie’s captaincy seemed blessed. His only problem seemed to be deciding on his three captain’s picks. Europeans were winning all over the world and Monty was bursting with anticipation. Now every day seems to bring a new problem.
On Sunday Ian Poulter withdrew from the US PGA Championship due to illness. Poulter said he was “gutted” and it was the first time he had been forced to withdraw with illness. He posted on Twitter: “Flying back home to Orlando this morning, my bed is awaiting my arrival. I can’t get back quick enough.”
After Monty finished last in the full field when the cut was made on Saturday morning, Poulter was placed last of those who qualified after the delayed completion of the third round. He had been due to play with Jeff Overton, a member of America’s Ryder Cup team, who bounced through the front nine in just over an hour, a picture of health.
Scandal and illness besets Montgomerie’s team. As Poulter flew home to his bed in Florida, Lee Westwood recuperates from his injuries in Portugal. There may be no one left standing in October.
Montgomerie, who flew home on Saturday afternoon, also has concerns about the form of his players. Six of his potential team missed the cut at Whistling Straits and a seventh did not make it to the fourth round. One day soon the sun will rise again.

As I previously said it aint just Moonheed and Tiger that have been balls deep on tour!

For those of you so disgusted by Tommy's behaviour you will be glad to know I have put myself forward to take his place. ;)

Really good time to be changing the Ryder Cup Captain - not!

Yes Monty's an idiot, yes he's had a few run-ins with regard to drops and rules but now isn't the time to be dragging it back up. Changing now would be a disaster for team moral and would practically hand the cup to the Yanks.

Crucify him afterwards by all means but this close to the match its not a good idea.
When David Laws the Sectretary of the Treasurey resigned a few days after the start of the Coliation, people said that as well.

That man realised that he would bring shame to th government and did the right thing.

It takes a special person to do that. We do not have that with Monty.

The captain could be changed now. All the things for the Ryder Cup are almost in place. We need a Man who can lead without all this rubbish running round the Media.

His comments about Woods now have a very hollow ring to them.

Get rid of Monty....Now
Get a grip ya tube.

Monty's the man for the job. Can you name anyone better qualified?

Let's face it, when he gets to Celtic Manor he'll be in his element and concentrated fully on the job in hand amongst the boys. He's played under some great captains and has experience in spades. It's the tournament he loves best, too. If the press choose to ask him about his extra marital stuff then I'm pretty sure he'll give them short shrift and it'll only spur him on to prove a point.

I am not a Monty lover or hater (although he has nice moobs) but I think from a golf point of view he deserves to be captain. Although he never won a major he has a great record.

As far as the shenanigans off course go I could give a flying fig what hes got up to. I for one will be cheering the Big Man on.

I'm surprised. for a moment there I thought alexgolf was Sandy Lyle's agent but there he is proposing Langer.
ah but could that be a ploy? knowing that Langer has had so little involvement with the European Tour recently that he's practically qualified for the US team who would be the next offering?

Leave Monty where he is - set to win the Ryder Cup.

Monty should be captain. He is well qualified and a legend of the game in terms of achievements.

I really dont care where he dips his wick and whether or not he wears a gimp-mask or any other detail for that matter.

Golf is his profession and his private life is exactly that, private.

Hopefully he will lead us to victory against the yanks.

I sat opposite him on the London-Chicago flight last Sunday. Considering it was the day all this NOTW stuff was surfacing, he was pretty relaxed, and in good spirits. He was much more pleasant in person than his TV persona suggests.

The fact that he came dead-last means either part of my game rubbed off on him on him, or he's letting it all get to him. For the sake of the RC team, I hope it is the former:)

I like Monty but that thought is just wrong :D

Too late to change without having significant and devastating effect on what is looking like a strong team. Let him be judged for his captaincy and not his private life. Expect another round of kiss and tells as the event gets closer and papers look to sell more copy
