Is this CSS correct?

All I know is course is par 70 I shot 8 over par 36 points and got 0.1 back.

It was midweek open off yellow/green box's. Still a par 70 tho

And as people keep telling you, Par isn't relevent to handicap and 36 points for you isn't playing to handicap.

Yeah get that now just find it hard to get head around it all! Par 70shooting 78/36points and getting back 0.1.

I understand that the SSS is 68 and CSS being 67 the course is playing as a par 68 and not really a par 70. Anyways still think it's stupid that you play to your handicap you get 0.1.

That would indeed be stupid, but scoring 36 points isn't playing to your handicap. As for CSS, see the other thread currently running for my views.

I'm not really sure that you do get it.

There is a local course here that is Par 68, SSS 62. The course is only 4,400 yards long. If you scored 36 points on it, do you think you would have played to handicap?

There is another one that is Par 72, SSS 74.The course is 6,900 yards long. If you scored 36 points on it, you would probably have played one of the rounds of your life.

I remain to be convinced that it will be any clearer to some people when we move over to playing to par.
In the examples you give Hendy would stand on the tee at the first course with a playing handicap of 2, and on the latter one a playing handicap of 10.

But then again - 36 points will be playing to handicap :)

If your handicap was issued off par you would be 6 not 8.

We've always been told that 36 points was playing to your handicap:confused:

It certainly wouldn't be on any of the quite a few Par 68; SSS 65 (quite short) type courses I've seen - mainly in Scottish urban areas.

If you want a more accurate definition of 'playing to your handicap', use 36pts minus (SSS - Par). Still not guaranteed to be correct on any day, but always works for Supplementaries.
