Is there a 'correct length' formula for putters?

LOL..... I was so thrown by Robobum knowing about Swash, superstroke grips and how long his shaft is that I had to go have a little lie down :p

Don't panic - just that I played 36 on 2 separate occasions this year who both had the same short putter with a fat grip and stood to ball identically.
They both come from a club who's pro is a Swash method teacher.

one thing that's always bothered me is "eyes directly over the ball".

I just cannot for the life of me get comfortable doing this. I feel I lose balance as im looking straight down.

Justin Leonard was one of the best putters around back in his day, his eyeline is way inside the ball.

Its what works for the individual.

Does seem like some people over complicate simple stuff. The concept is easy, hit it in the hole. But where your eyes are, how smooth the ball is rolling, top spin on the stroke, your back angle etc.... Seem to just generate a number of excuses as to why the ball has not gone in the hole. Sometimes you just miss putts but practice reduces these chances of missing. Reading a book doesn't make you sink putts, in fact reading a book is just entertainment and theory..you can't just do something because you read about it. The formula is practice, find what works and practice it until its repeatable ... Job done, stop being lazy and practice.

sweet. I decided quite a while ago I wouldn't try to force the issue if it didn't feel natural. seeing keegan Bradley sit behind the ball with the belly putter made me realise its not that important.
