Played last night and forgot that I had sorted out my golf bag, the long and short of it is I only had two golf balls, a brand new prov 1 x 2011 model and a pro v1 from about 4 or 5 years ago.

So as I normally do when playing on my own hit them both and played matchplay against each other I was shocked to find the older ball consistently longer and by over 20yrds with a driver, it was also better into the wind and checked quicker on the greens, I know the prov1 is supposed to spin more so that didn't suprise me but the difference of the tee was so obvious.

Has anyone else noticed this and is it a result of the Callaway court case ?

Theres absolutely no way I could tell cos I dont own any balls that old Freddie. send me a dozen of those 2006 balls and i'll gladly do an in depth study for you ;)

It could just be that the old ball was a better fit for your swing speed? Who knows but I would love to see a true comparison as I'm fairly sure the new balls aren't that much different to the old ones. It would be interesting to know whether any of the Pro's are still using balls from a few years ago marked up as new ones?
