Now then, Birdie, Eagle, Albatross, all great, then we have Bogey, Double Bogey, Triple Bogey, etc. Why sure we could call it something better than 'Double Bogey'. Over to you.

Keeping with the bird theme, what about a DODO?
It's dead and so is your score if you have too many.

A bogie used to be par, not sure when or why it changed, maybe the historians among us will know.

Whats the plural for bogey?

Bogies?

Imagine that. Taking a six on a par 4 and you turn to your mate and say

"This is no good. I've got bogies on my card"

Leave it be IMO

So how did the names Albatros / Eagle / Birdie / Par / Bogey / Double Bogey originate?

Why not just one under / one over par etc?

Same with Tennis really, why is it 15 Love / 30 Love / 40 Love what's that all about?

Leave it be. What are you going to change it to anyway. It's part of golfs tradition and too many people are looking to change too many things It is a great game and although a few rules need tweaking over and above what came into force on Jan 1st (in my opinion) lets leave it be.
