Is being overweight a disadvantage as a pro and if not is golf even a sport?

Surely if they've had that weight all the time then they'll be used to it? Didn't Clarke win it before he lost all his extra weight?

Of course they get used to it however let me put it another way, if you lose 2 stone you will naturally feel less fatigue, you are carrying less weight after all.

a long time ago and 5st lighter I was playing the best golf of my life, could do 2 rounds in a day no problem, now I flag at the end of one, I've lost distance and touch around the green. So yes being fit certainly helps. (although I did shed 3st last year and my rythm went completely!)

Maybe so but I don't see any of the golfers on tour suffering from fatigue. They might be a bit tired at the end of a competition but they don't have to carry their bags and only have to walk 7.5k over a round of golf. They're hardly going to be exhausted are they (this is the definition of fatigue by the way).

Golf is more of a technical sport than a physically exerting sport anyway so you don't need to be ripped to get the best out of your game.

Cant speak from the realms of a pro but as a hacker being overweight doesnt help at all , when your playing realy well adrenalin will kick in and give you a boost , when your not the round gets tiring and to me that is fitness levels , fitness levels also hit concentration levels , all on the negative side IMO

Me thinks Homer has one on him today. Havein a bad day homer? No Duff left?

Glass half full day. 38 points (one annoying blob) off the yellows without a short game and not swinging great. That would have been 25 before NGT and my winter swing changes. Happy and hot. I stand by my statement. They aren't carrying their clubs, have access to food and drink via the caddy so never hungry or dehydrated and it isn't that hard. It's hardly the London Marathon.
