Is anyone else getting sick of Wood's petulance?

The title seems pretty self explanatory - Woods' petulance. Yes there are plenty of others that do it but it seems to be him that gets singled out for the flak. As for whether he's a role model or not, I think you need to look up the Woods Foundation on the internet and read about the work that has done to change the lives of many children over the years and the vast amount of his money he's put into it to see that, aside from his sex life, he's a pretty damn fine role model actually.

I'd go as far as to say that whilst he isn't the aspirational figure he was, there are still many kids around the world that would be hard pressed to name another golfer other than him and for many he still represents a lot of what is good in golf. Kids aren't as prejudiced as adults and so if their hero is playing good golf (and he is again ) then that is all they care about. Perhaps we need to take a leaf out of their book

AGAIN, missing the point. I am fully aware of Tiger Woods being:-
a) A truly fantastic golfer
b) Terribly unfaithful
c) Doing all of his good work off the course

The actual point of this tread and what I was saying was that Tiger has/was:-
a) Thrown his club and almost decapitated people (albeit two years ago)
b) Still throws his clubs and has a paddy (a Tiger, sorry Leopard never changes his spots!)

The fact is that Kids emulate their idols, go down to your local park on Sunday and one of the kids will celebrate a goal like Suarez, Rooney or whoever and this is the same in other sports too.

You might want to think a little harder before starting a thread then, it is after all titled "Is anyone else getting sick of Wood's petulance?"

And you might want to read through the posts! Yes, the main premise of the thread was Tiger's petulance but as I have stated dont think that he is the only one. Which also answers the other quote by the previous post by Hawkeye.

Perhaps I should have started a 'Tiger is God' thread?

Drag it up? I'm sorry but if I had seen this thread before, obviously I would not have posted. I have not posted this to 'Stir' things up as somebody has stated. I have not been on here long and dont check the site many times a day like most.

Crikey isnt the whole point of 'Forums' to open up debate and give your views/opinions? Perhaps I should stick to 'Why do they put so many dimples on a golf ball?' and not condone the great man!

I think its the way you've come across on a few posts that may be causing the issue. The title is pretty cut and dried and although I parreciate you've gone on and expanded it at times, some people will look at the title and post on that. As for Woods being a god, not in my book. No golfer will ever earn that right though in my eyes Seve was pretty damn close. Woods is undoubtedly the best golfer of the generation, but its like anything, greats come and go. Certainly you can't deny his achievements in the game and that is all I'd want to judge him on. Anything else isn't my business. I don't condone some of the stuff he's done on the course either but he's not any worse than a host of other top names who have behaved as impetuously in similar circumstances but without the forum going into meltdown

Not missing the point at all. You are saying Woods is public enemy #1 for throwing his clubs. Let me give you Garcia as exhibit one to show you he isn't alone. Do I condone it. Well actually I don't really care. it shows they care. Your point b) Unfaithful - who cares. I bet there are a few on here that have played away or at the very least you know someone at your club who has. Does it matter. Is it a suject for debate in a golf forum.

You are dragging up ancient history with the club issue. Go around your local club next weekend and see how many of your members chuck clubs. I bet it isn't because Woods does it. It's because at times it can be a bloody frustrated pain the arse and you get to a point when you need to let it out. I use to be bad for chucking my clubs especially as a junior and Woods wasn't even born. So what if he still chucks a club. Others do it and until the tour introduces a fine for doing so I suspect they will keep on doing it. Heck I've seen mild mannered Lee Westwood hurl a club at his bag in a hissy fit. Is he public enemy #2 behind Woods

Yes kids emulate their idols but I'm prepared to wager those influenced by Woods are more interested in trying to replicate his stinger shot or fist pump like him when he holes out than standing on the practice ground trying to get to scratch in club helicoptering. Please don't assume that I am missing thepoint and preach to me

Preach to you? Dont patronise me. I have stated that you missed the point that I was making, which was correct.

I have agreed about Garcia in earlier posts again you should read earlier posts before making this comment.

Unfaithful!!! Again, I have only stated the obvious, btw he plays Nike clubs! I dont give a monkeys about manogomy of a golfer.

In terms of a fine, yes exactly the point I was making in earlier posts i.e. Suarez and Terry racism. Westwood, Garcia, Mcilroy etc all admittedly have strops on the course and I agree that poor Tiger is under the microscope even if he scratches his nose and I agree that he is definately calmer than he was.

If you also read my first post (bottom paragraph), my mate who I play every week has a strop on most rounds and from there on in he capitulates and he is making it twice as hard for himself, my point here was is Tiger actually making it harder for himself? I used to play snooker a quite a high level and if I missed something that I should have got I used to have a paddy and found it VERY hard to get back.

Sorry - lost me now - Nike clubs?? Never mentioned the make and you'll find the forum jury are still out on whether they are actual Nike or not - heck thats a whole other can of worms

Actually I read all of you posts but rather than cherry pick specifics tried to address your points as a whole. No idea where Suarez and Terry fit into it and apart from Woods ex caddy Steve Williams have never heard of any racial incidents. Seems a mute point and again I think you give kids too little credit. I've been involved in kids football over many years as far back ans the 80's when monkey chants were prevalent at every league ground and I can count on one hand the number of times I saw kids or parents stoop to that level

you should read earlier posts before making this comment. - telling me what to read and what to make of it - patronising n'est ce pas?

I agree that poor Tiger is under the microscope even if he scratches his nose and I agree that he is definately calmer than he was. - so basically you are contradicting your own argument and he isn't as petulant as he was.

Clearly you and I won't agree on this so I think rather than go around in circles I'll leave it at that. Clearly there will be something I've misunderstood and maybe its just your stunning intellect and debating skills that are too much for my befuddle brain

Touch of sarcasm, which I was expecting anyway.

Suarez and Terry are currently going through racism cases and the authorities are making a stance dealing with the situation. Steve Williams and Monkey Chants? Again, confused. Not the point I was making.

Contradicting my own argument? No, I have agreed that he is not as petulant as he was!

Stunning intellect and debating skills, noooooooo, i'm nowhere near 22k posts fella.

Alas earwax. Bored now anyway.

Did anyone else see Harrington hoying his wedge at his bag over the weekend??

Shameful antics from such a high profiled golfer.

Anyone care to start a thread about it?

No,didn't think so.

Move on Opening Poster.....I can.

He's comes across as quite arrogant the way he struts around. Manners of a pig as well, when I was at St. Andrews he pulled up a greeny and gobbed on the floor in front of all to see. Nice.

He is so priveleged its hard to accept the way he acts sometimes.

As for Seve, the only time I met him was when I asked for an autograph on a till receipt because thats all that I had. He joked and said "what is this, are you asking me to pay for your bill?" Friendly as anything.

Get him Homer........:)

Sorry, PPE it just seems your trying to backtrack now. It's obvious you were not expecting the response you were hoping for, even from the 'I hate Tiger' brigade.

hey hey... chill out my friend, you are right.. you can talk about whatever you like - it IS a forum.

Obvioulsy people can also reply in whatever way they feel suited. You posted a very thought provoking thread.. that's a GOOD thing... it's pressed a few buttons... ANOTHER good thing... don't let it worry you, it's ALL good

You don't want to copying everyone else and post crappy threads about which ball to use all the time do you?

If people like Woods or not it really is their opinion... you dragged it out of them... it's a good thread

Get him Homer! Little men behind a keyboard bother me not one jot my friend.

You're probably right, I didn't expect so many people to be wearing their 'I heart Tiger' tee shirts! However, I posted it because it was MY opinion, I wont get upset that people dont agree, it's THEIR opinion.

Cheers Fella!! Sorry if i upset anyone.

No need to apologise, I don't think anyone is upset... you just got their juices flowing.... funny what sitting at a keyboard can do for people's emotions... they'll be stoning you to death given the chance! :D

Some good points in the thread ie the camera is always on him so you'll likely see anything he does, but nothing can detract from the FACT that he's a miserable git most of the time....

but then so was Monty  (<<<see what I did there?)
