Ok so the guy has won 14 majors and over 100 tour victories etc etc and you cant doubt his talent.

However I am getting a bit sick of him always throwing his toys out of the pram. Just before his affair was revealed I remember him throwing his driver into the ground and it JUST missed the spectators heads to the left of him! also there have been many other incidents of petulance which I feel is a bit uneccesary, especially when you think of the millions of kids who look up to him as a role model.

Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with Woods showing passion (just ask Rachel Uchitel) as it shows his hunger but he must control it better.

Actually a mate of mine who I play with regularly has a strop every round and from there on it's downhill for instance on the 11th green and 3up he missed a 2ft putt to half the hole........I went on to win 1up!! I say to him that when he turns like that he is actually playing two people and making it twice as hard. Is it the same for Woods?

TW and of course the way MANY top golf pro's act on the course is so interesting actually. Golf as a game in general is seen as a gentlemanly polite game, but so many "better" players are the most horrible people you can come across. That was what was SO good about RR on Sunday. Didnt come over at ANY time as a nobber!

It was said about Seve that when the cameras were not on him, when he got to superstar status he was an arragant so and so, and not nice to deal with, but what HE knew was when to turn it on and off.

To get to the top in golf you do need to have a very single minded attitude, and that doesnt always fit in.

TW for me is no better or worse. He just wants to win. Interesting RR on Sunday said that he was a delight to play with and TBF the smile and walm handshake he did on the 18th green after it was all over was great.

For me, so long as they are not abusive to anyone, any golfers attitude during the round is their own affair.

I look after MYSELF and dont worry about others but am mindfull of what is going on. Some dont know when to draw a line

club golfers can do what they want, but any Pro golfer needs to leed by example. Part of being at the top is being icons and role models to youngsters... if you cant handle the heat.... get out.

Really? I would be mightily pissed off if I was playing behind a guy who kept whacking his driver down on tee boxes and fairways.

ok thats a bit of an extreme, but my point is when your at the pro level of the sport, on tv, being paid to represent major brands, you cant be doing it.

every now and then we all have a bit of a moment, but to do it on global tv is a big no no....

Is that better mr mod ;)

No and don't find his annoyance at a poor shot petulance rather than perfectionism.

Just wish he didn't spit so much - what's that all about??!!

With so many golfers spitting these days, not just Tiger, it seems some of the more unsavoury aspects of life are starting to filter into our beloved game. The petulance you mentioned is, regrettably, another characteristic we perhaps would wish to see less of.

Unless the PGA (to be fair, I have noticed it more with Americans; Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson, Kyle Stanley to name just 3) and the European Tour penalise those guilty of these acts, it is only likely we will see more and more creeping onto our tv screens. Sorry:o

I couldnt give a toss if he has a strop when he hits a bad shot etc. HID said he looked like a right moody bugger the other day but I don't think it's that at all. I just think he is 100% focused on his golf and is only interested in his own performance. Once his round was done he had nothing but a warm smile and a handshake for RR which is absolutely fine in my opinion. What IS becoming tiresome is the constant Tiger bashing. Plenty of top level sportsmen and women are not the type of people I'd want to spend any time with socially but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy watching them perform.

Reports and the little coverage I saw from Abu Dhabi at the weekend suggested TW's on course demeanour was a bit better... few more smiles, signing a few autogrpahs after the round etc.

Certainly he seemed to have a genuine and warm attitude towards Rocky when he congratulated him on the win.

Those that watched more of the coverage... was that really the case or is it media spin that it's a new nicer Tiger?

Just to throw another slant on things

Do kids still look up to him as a role model??

With differet players making a mark on the scene such as Fowler, Mcilroy, Donald, Simpson etc is Woods still looked up to as before his "indescresions"?

I wouldn't say so. I think Tiger is still a massive draw within the game for what he was, but is no longer the role model he used to be.

Just my opinoin.

I'm fine with it, its no biggie and it's directed at himself, its frustration.

Did you see the big BEAMING smiles he had for Rocky on the 18th, now that's a true sportsman.

At least he doesnt helicopter his clubs like garcia, or throw signed programmes over his shoulder and expect the owner to grovel after it:angry:

Must have missed your threads on all the other really petulent famous players out there.

I cant help but feel we've been sucked into a time warp here, you are complaining about something from 2 years ago? he hasnt done anything wrong this past few months since starting back so I dont see what the problem is unless you just have your big spoon out labelled "the big STIR!"

Yet another Tiger bashing thread:blah:

Isnt it strange that so many people want Woods sanctioned for his strops but the man who done this

and this

Oh, and this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DS6dA6ngKok

is, by their own admission one of many peoples favourite golfers.

Double standards?? not at all:whistle:

Why dont some people just admit that they dont like him because he is American and the greatest(IMO) golfer of all time. Success really does breed contempt doesnt it.

Tiger is Tiger, nothing has changed other than the fact he aint winning much, hate the spitting especially on tee's and greens. I have to say though he always comes across as very focused and doesn't ever concentrate on anything else other than his game.

That said, would love to see him go through the season without a win, im not hater I just would rather someone else got their day, he's had plenty.

Dont get me wrong guys Tiger is one of many that throw strops on a golf course these days, however, being a role model to more than most others i.e. Garcia, Tiger seems to have a paddy in EVERY single game he plays.

However, I will agree that at least he is showing passion and he seems to leave it on the course. But, what I do disagree with (and I am only highlighting Tiger as he seems to be do it more than others) is that this is meant to be a GENTLEMANS game, with so many rules and regulations i.e. Dress Codes, etiquette etc surely petulance has no place in this great game........and that includes Sergio or whoever else.

A little bit odd with the timing of this. If had been posted a couple of years ago or even last year I could understand, but I didn't see anything like that last weekend although admittedly I didn't see it all.

I say give him a break for now until he starts again. He looked different on the course from what I saw.

I didn't see any of the weekend so cant comment, however.......
The media
Everywhere you look it's all about him.
Even the photos of Robert Rock winning had Tiger in them
twitter is also full of it ...Tiger this, Tiger that Tiger's interview after last week, what will Tiger do next tournament etc etc etc.
Give us a break for goodness sake and leave him alone.
