Irons lengthened.

I'm getting my irons lengthened because i am almost 6'4" and ive been informed that this is well above the standard height that irons are made for. Just wondering has anyone els had it done and what sort of results did it yeild?

i didnt get mine lengthened as it would of cost more than the set i had was worth but i bought a set of mizuno irons that are 0.5 inch longer and 2 degree upright lie, first go of them on the driving range was terrible, first round with them not much better but played again today with them and have started to feel more comfotable with them and started hitting some really nice straight shots, think when ive played with them a few more times will be better than with my previous standard irons so would say go for it, im a similar height to you and it makes sense that clubs will need to be longer, the only real issue i have is that im taking a deeper divot than previously and this leads to the odd duff shot but was alot lot better today so guess its just adjusting to the longer length, on the whole im now hitting the clubs longer than my previous set i think
i was quoted £140 to extend all the clubs so just bought a set of mizunos with a longer shaft for £199 which seemed better than paying to get a cheap set lengthened.
Just got to get my driver sorted out now!

im 6ft 6 and have standard length clubs, to be honest i feel i play fine with these and dont intend on getting them made longer.

I remember a post on here a while back about custom fitting clubs and someone saying they went to the range and someone was there that had the full shebang, fitted clubs lengthened lie adjust etc and yet they couldnt hit a decent shot.

As far as im concerned if your playing well with what you have got then leave them as they are. If your not playing well dont assume that getting them made longer will be a miracle cure and maybe get yourself some lessons.

I played with standard length clubs for 9 years then got fitted at mizuno last year.

I ended up 1/2 inch longer and its taken about 6 months to get used to them, I nearly gave up on them several times.
But now I can honestly say ive never hit the ball sweeter.

Every iron will play 1 club longer, and you may struggle at first but stick with it.
