Iron off the tee

I play weekly so really am not sure whether they count the same?

If you play weekly and hand in all your cards then you will have an accurate number beside your name, I thought the supplementary cards are really for peeps who cant play regular qualifing comps.
Yea sorry, to clarify, I meant up to a certain amount of card, not minimum.
I feel like I should be playing of 2-3 shots lower (joined with h/cap of 6 3 years ago but family limits practice to once a month or two). but usually each round had one moment of madness when chasing scores. This past week or two has seem me relax on that front and just havn't made the same mistakes.

I wish I could shoot a 77 :)

Brendy I agree with Ken, I would think you would only get cut by handing in three or more cards that are significantly below your handicap as you play in weekly competitions. There is nothing as frustrating as playing under handicap all week and then getting no-where near it on a Saturday.
Handicap secretaries are prob reluctant to cut single figure golfers on general play.

Couple of weeks ago I tried a different approach to our par 5's.

The one I usually struggle with is our 9th. Straight away par 5 about 500 yards. Usually its a 3 wood, long iron and wedge if its playing long. Can do it in 2 very occasionally. However, when I take a driver off the tee I block it and it sails into the trees and OOB. I was resigned to the fact I would have to be greatful of pars and happy with Bogies on that hole. But I hit 2 comfy rescues and a wedge and havn't drove it since, no point. I can do this on all the holes at my place pretty much so the driver might start collecting dust!
