Irish meet in 2012?

I think a deal similar to what we were given for Ballyliffin would be desirable. £150 for two nights B&B and 2 rounds of golf is fantastic really, if the financial downturn continues, who knows what other offers might arise before the end of the year? Without a special offer of some kind, it can turn into an almighty expensive weekend.

Having looked into the website a bit more it would be nearer €200 a night including golf if you wanted to sleep in anything other than a box room! No ta!

I know you can get a good deal at druids glen sometimes so am sure you there would be plenty of other places you can get deals spesh if you can organise a big enough group.

Do Castlerock,Portstewart etc do any 'deals'?

Another 27/36 hole complex would be ideal and staying away from Eire would be easier on the pocket...certainly would be compared to Druids which was 5 euro a jar when I was there 4 years ago!

That said, there are loads of places that have possibilities...Headfort,Concra Wood etc etc would all be desirable if the deal was right.

Our captains away weekend was at Castlerock this year and by all accounts it was pretty easy on the pocket suppose it is something that will have to be looked into. Could always just head back to Ballyliffin

But the Goswick 3 are marked men after doing a runner!

Seriously,as much as I wouldn't mind somewhere else to add to my C.V. I would gladly go back if only to get another photo of the diving club in Muff!:D

Portstewart is rather pricey going by the prices i saw last night when i had a quick browse. Castlerock is a good bet (I can play it for £15 quid too, wouldnt let that influence the decision :D) £95 for two rounds but limit parties to 16, or so it says on their site.
Concra Wood sounds like a decent track, I think barring Ballyliffin as the exception, links might well be more expensive but the masochist in me loves it, or maybe one links, one parkland?
As I said, if we can all keep an eye out for offers and maybe start another poll on what, when and where soonish.

Ballyliffin would be the best choice in my opinion, we know what the hotel is like, what we can get free (cough strokesavers, not calamari!!) and where is good for a pint. We could always do Castlerock on the way up like a few of us did last time.

Sounds like a plan boss.....

Another thing is Brendy if there is plenty of notice there is more time to save a few quid and also might be able to entice a few more folk from over the water!.

You could also play Rosapenna and my place and stay in Letterkenny or close enough by and you could/would get a good deal there.

Portstewart is £95 at the weekend and Castlerock is about £80 if i mind right but there's there's plenty of nightlife to be had up there plus there only 6 miles apart or the The Valley at Royal Portrush is £40 and a cracking course as well.

Portstewart/Portrush wouldnt be bad night wise, not great, but not bad :). i had a quick looksie at Ballyliffin and there are a few offers up already 190 yoyos (162 quid) for 2 rounds and 2 nights, that is per person sharing but Id dare say it could be cheaper with a block booking.

Ballyliffin is probably as good a deal as you will get if we can get it for roughly same as last year although i wouldnt mind somewhere different.

As has been said though well known courses like Ballyliffin at a great price should tempt a few more along and we know what we are getting.

I would highly recommend playing Chris's place (Portsalon) on the friday as it is a great track and well worth a visit.

count me in Brendy. Ballyliffin is possibly the best value top course in the country. I would gladly play Castlerock on the Friday as it is enroute for me.
I would not rate druids heath in the same league as Ballyliffin.
I know you mentioned Portmarknock last year, it is a fantastic course and see about the Island (works out about €90.00 per round but might have an in, if people fancied over priced beer etc in Dublin.

Portmarnock (Hotel one) have a deal with The Island I think.I would think however that for a 2 night 2 rounder it would be well over 200 Euros.
More importantly, how much is a pint down there? :D

I guess the first question be, would anyone not go because it was Ballyliffin again?

I agree Chris, there are plenty of top class courses on this island, cost has to be a decider though.
