Not me unfortunately,

a friend of mine is planning a golf trip to 'Ireland' in early September. He does not want to be shelling out wads on course fees, nor does want a lot of travelling so,

can you help out with courses worth playing, at reasonable prices, within 10 - 15 miles of a RyanAir or EasyJet destination?

one course Viscount that I have played just outside Dublin so within the 15 or so Miles is Seapoint G.C......it was if memory serves me right fairly cheap for the quality of course it was.Links track that was really really enjoyable and backs onto Baltray(County Louth)....I wish we could have afforded Baltray as it looked superb but we had spent a fair bit on playing The Island and both Druids courses all of which were top notch.

Vis - whatever you do choose a tour operator and get them to do all the leg work/bookings for you - they get kick backs from the courses/hotels so it won't cost you any more and you'll probably get better tee-times too....they'll also be able to advise/recommend logistics too....

Viscount- it depends on what type of courses he/they want to play. In north Dub, near the airport are a number of good courses of both parkland and links.

I recommend,if he is play at least three rounds x 3/4 people, that he looks at

www.openfairways.com

You pay about 150 euro but get heavy discounts off lots of courses. Especially if it is mid week.

Off the top of my head, Portmananock new course is a great links (about 20 minutes from the airport) and Headford is a great 36 hole parkland (about 45 minutes from airport).

Got to echo Seapoint, an absolute belter and not too dear. If he wants an inland course, then Dundalk is hard to beat, although the locals like to give strangers a grilling as it's on the border and you may be a spy (I'm not kidding).

Don't know if Northern Ireland is on the agenda but if you fly into either Belfast City or International airport you'll find many fine parkland courses within your travelling restrictions. For links courses you'll have to travel a bit further afield but the roads are quiet and travel times aren't excessive. If your budget is tight you'll probably find that green fees, drink and food are much cheaper than in southern Ireland.

Hi,
Seapoint is about 45 mins from the airport, If u have a bit more info about what type of courses, price range he wants to pay, if they are going to get a car i could give you a lot of info as i have played most courses in the north side of dublin in airport area also if they flew to knock in mayo there are some cracking courses along the wesport to sligo area. There are 3 open courses within 10 mins of the airport worth playing all for €20 or less mid week if he wants to go cheap 2 parkland and 1 links, if he wants to play the big links courses eg The Island, Royal Dublin Either of the Portmarnocks then he is looking at €120 plus per round.
If you can give me a bit more info about price i could give u a list of courses for him to look at.

We went to Limerick ,Ryanair fly to Shannon we played Limerick County cracking course and hospitality was spot on , we played twice over the weekend and it cost us 80 euros for both , Limerick itself was a nice place to go out also the course at Shannon is good as well think it was about 40 euros, we worth it. Dublin good we played St Margarets which is beside the airport that was 80 euro and Stackstown which was also good but beer prices in Dublin were scary 7 euro everyplace for a pint of Guiness

Depends on where he wants to go. A bit more info would helps us narrow down the options.

Around Dublin Airport some cracking courses.
Roganstown, Forrest Little, St. Margarets, Correstown.
A little further afield but with 10 miles of the airport, a few links--Portmarnock links, Portmarnock, St. Annes, Royal Dublin.
A few between 60 and 90 mins from airport--Headfort, Rathcore, Glasson, Knightsbrook, The Heritage, Mount Wolseley.

If anyone knows of decent self-cartering accom (or good value hotel - not B&B) within striking distance of Shannon, Galway or Killarney would also be interested.

Cheers
