My iPod wont sync up to my iTunes no matter what i try :(. Ive updated my iTunes, made sure my usb cable works and yet it only charges my iPod and not let me sync it :(. HELP ME BEFORE I THROW THE STUPID THING AT A WALL! :p.

Thanks :).

I hate iTunes with all the issues I get using a pc.

Try this as it worked for me.

reboot then;
disable any AV (antivirus) and any Firewall (like zonalarm etc)
load up itunes first then connect the ipod.....

try that and see how you get on

The old advice of disable your anti virus and firewall is a load of old hogwash

The interwebthingy is full of ipod/iphone sync problems

All you need to do is open itunes, then when its fully open, plug in your Ipod/phone

99/100 this will work

Have you tried switching it off and switching it back on again?

Only just discovered Itunes myself and it looks so picky to me.

One way to check the cable and ipod would be to plug into another pc (without itunes) and see if the drivers load up and the pc sees the ipod, if not it would point to either a cable or ipod fault. If it does then its likely to be an itunes or pc issue.

I feel your annoyance.

The worst problem I ever had was only fixable by restoring the ipod.....grim.....

I had to do this (as my itunes/ipod wouldn't do anything on my laptop) by installing itunes on another PC, restoring the ipod as it would now "allow" it, uninstalling itunes on that PC (I don't want it) then re-syncing the ipod on the laptop again.....just about 3 hours wasted.

My itunes HATES ME with a vengeance. The problem is multiple ipods and now, to add insult to injury a bloomin iPad!!! (God save us...)

Today, I had to convince my itunes not to remove all the apps on my daughters's ipad. Basically, if you try to connect a iOS device with the wrong account activated, it buggers it all up.

HOW HARD CAN IT BE for each individual ipod/pad/touch to AUTOMATICALLY realise which device belongs to which owner and which library of purchased media......

----

My advice to anyone using multiple gadgets is to de-authorise the computer before plugging any device in and then sign in with the correct account. It's not hard.....but does Apple suggest this when you plug in a device it can't link to an account....NO.

Rant-a-bloomin-rama........

If its an iPod touch hold the home button and the power button to reset you iPod. It won't cause any loss of info don't worry!

If its a standard iPod, hold menu and select to reset. Then turn it on and plug it it.

Also try restarting you pc.

I have a similar problem with my old ipod.
Fire up itunes, plug in ipod and nothing.
I just get a tick on the ipod screen to say I can disconnect it.

Bobmac, try my guidance

Alternatively give it my two year old, he threw my 2nd gen faulty iPod around the lounge for a few days and it now works perfectly...kids a genius!

The op refered to not being able to sync to iTunes. To do that, reset the iPod as per above guidance then sync it and go itunes to restore. If you can sync, just restore it using iTunes

thanks

Except it isn't old advice to me, mine wouldn't sync and after hours trying and rebooting I disabled av and firewall, it then worked without issue. Sometimes I forget to disable it and it hangs for so long I have to do a hard reboot

So after resetting my Ipod and doing what everyone else has said it still wont sync :(. New Ipod time me thinks. Now what one to get :p.

Thanks for the advise anyway :).
