We've always been with Virgin Media, but now thinking of jumping ship, because of upcoming price increases. We only really need the internet, not to bothered with a TV package or even the telephone land line.

Any recommendations or warnings would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Have been with BT (infinity) for 4 years, pretty much get the speed we should albeit at the low end of what they say they could supply (FTC).

Did by my own router but the newest home hubs are meant to be ok.

Sky broadband is suppose to be one of the worst around.. feedback from friends who have had it

I’ve had virgin and bt. Prefer my bt now .. only because I had a fault with virgin for 18 months they couldn’t find so gave up and left. No issues with bt since

2 reasons we went with Virgin...
1. Internet provision down phone lines around here is almost worse than useless for some reason. It was poor to very poor to non-existent. Virgin comes down the cable and it's always there and fast enough for what we need.
2. Freeview here is also shocking. Signal was so erratic that recording a program was a gamble.
Reasonably happy with Virgin..

BT Infnity, had it a few years now, absolutely no issues.

Check where your fibre enabled BT exchange is first mate. We can't get Virgin so have to use ether BT or Sky and even though we pay for fibre broadband we only get a maximum 3.5mb download speed, this is because we are roughly 1.5 miles from the nearest exchange and it's only copper cable from there to out house so not really fully fibre.
Oh how I wish we had Virgin up here.

I switched to BT to get the fastest provider in our area.

My daughter moans about the wi fi but I cannot convince its her phone that is the problem, my notebook works fine on it.

Not sure how that's the case, sky use the same infrastructure, same cables etc. We have sky and it has never let us down. Speed is dependent on distance from the box so that is unique to each house, unless you have virgin of course.

I have Virgin, and the broadband speeds are so constant. I have had very few issues and use my own wifi hub and use theirs as a pass through router for connectivity only.

I am with TalkTalk. I get a basic TV package, 24/7 free calls to landlines and mobiles, landline rental, and fibre optic broadband for £37 per month. Although I am not a fan of TalTalk, I just can't get a better deal

Zen internet, not the cheapest, but decent quality with a fixed IP, decent router (Fritzbox - rather than some cheap proprietary box) and top-notch support team that are all UK based.

For everyone who tells you company A is rubbish there will be others who tell you they are brilliant. I had Sky and had no problems with them. Upon leaving (left TV built in package so ditched uncompetitive broadband) I came across Vodafone for a really good price. Had them (as had friend for the same time) for about 6 months now and not one complaint. Very consistent speeds

This. Not had any problems either.
