Interesting lesson yesterday

I gave a lesson to a guy yesterday who I hadn't met before.
I turned up at the range a few minutes early and he was already there hitting balls.
Good I thought, hes keen.
I asked him how I could help and he said
"my irons are ok but my woods and hybrids are all over the place, especially the driver which goes too high."
20 H/CAP self taught

I took a look at his woods which were all Ping G10.
Well, all quickly became clear.

Driver...12 deg draw SOFT REGULAR
3 wood 15.5 STIFF
24 hybrid...REGULAR :thup:
28 hybrid ...SOFT REGULAR

His mates had advised him to get PING G10 so he did...all off ebay.
All bargains he proudly told me.
Sadly, no-one told him to check the shafts.

Hes now gone back to ebay and is looking for more bargains of the Reg shaft variety

I would think its the same story across the land. I used to think that all the clubs on eBay were stiff because everyone wanted regular.

The nice thing is he has come to a pro and is keen to learn.

It must have been more than his clubs though bob?!

I can't remember a pro ever checking my shafts.

I do remember seeing my pro take everyone's clubs, in a group lesson, one after the other and hitting superb shots, to prove a point.

Yes, weak left hand, strong right and he was out to in big time so was hitting it left and right
