I have been up the club tonight having a bit of practice.
I experimented with my initial take away, I always thought that you were supposed to move the club back 6 inches or so purely with the arms, before turning the body / shoulders.

Tonight I just turned on the initial take away & hit some very crisp shots & lovely straight drives, so is there a correct method or is it just an individual thing?

I prefer the arms, chest and shoulder unit to move away together.

Have you tried "tracing the (plane) line"?

I do this periodically and find when I do this, my body looks after itself.

the 'triangle' of arms and chest should move away as one unit ideally, then separation kicks in at different places for individuals.
