Personally, I think Vince Cable takes some beating. Had he been appointed Chancellor, which he definitely should have been, the economy would be in safer hands than it is at present.

IndeedHe had zero expertise in that field and was given arguably the most important cabinet position at a very difficult time. I (sort of) understand if they adamantly wanted to keep him at the forefront of their party, but they appointed him chancellor simply because they didn't want a LibDem and had nobody else.
A lot of the most unpopular economic policies were pushed through by tories, whilst the LibDems got all the flack - most notably, the increase in tuition fees.
That's a reasonable shout, I've always liked what he has to say.I'll offer you a scoring draw on that one ;-)
Interesting point you make DV.
In your opinion, or any other Scots mans on here, is there something Salmond should be concentrating on instead of the independence vote?
Drugs
Poverty
Unemployment
Antisocial behaviour
Child poverty
Homeless
Better Education
Attracting industry
Training and apprenticeship schemes to support business
Improving policing
and many many more
OH....and potholes:angry:
In Scotland there is no real alternate to the SNP.
Our nation voted them in with a majority, something that the new system was supposed to stop.
I challenge anyone on here to name the leaders of the Labour/Tory/Liberals in Scotland [without references]
They just do not exist as viable parties and have nobodies leading them.
The SNP have made a decent job of running the country and many folk voted for them.
That does not mean that they want independence.
Interesting point that most of the English folk living in Scotland that I know are SNP supporters.
It is amusing being doorstepped by an English guy in Scotland trying to argue with you to change your vote to SNP.

Weird, haven't met a fellow expat Englishman that shares that opinion TBH and most of the Scots that I know claim to be firmly in the NO camp.
I think you may have misread the post, he said because SNP are in now it doesn't necessarily mean that people want independence it's just they see the SNP the best option currently to run the Scottish Government.
Well I'm not about to start using better togethers website as a source, am I?
I'm confident in my info, I realise that the no vote will probably win, which will be a shame imo.
As for those saying they'd leave an independent Scotland and banging on about Salmond and joining the euro, it's complete nonsense.
The SNP will probably win any GE after a yes victory, but after that I'd hope that Scottish Labour find it within themselves to distance themselves from New Labour in RUK, a political party Thatcher would be proud of.Scotland is a Labour centre left country, badly let down by the supposed centre left party.Keir Hardie would be ashamed, as would John Smith.
The two main UK political parties are two sides of the same coin, like the republican and democrat parties in america, there is a rizla between them.
I would suggest you do read some of the better together websites, then get a better understanding of both sides of the argument and take a independent viewpoint instead of blindly following one.
You say you stand by your info, well let me pick up on two of many errors, you say Shetland are pleading for independence from Scotland, totally incorrect, the only time they might want independence is if Scotland did gain independence.
You also claimed that the UK have a rights to a 200 fishing mile zone ,again totally wrong,we gave up this right when we joined the common market.
I've seen a TV programme in the last 6 mths that was based around the people of the Shetlands wanting independance from Scotland................. so just who is right?
