A rain-soaked front 9 and a windy back 9 meant that there wasn't going to be sparkilng golf today but Imurg roars back and hands Fragger a good thumping - and all the Fragster can do is fart.

He blames losing the will to live on the first, where he had his new freebie Ping brolly in a Masters Brolly holder atop his bag - looked nice until it blew over twice on the first hole, broke the holder and wasn't seen again...

I blame me for birdieing both the SI1 and 2 holes for 4 points apiece, one with an audacious chip-in from just off the back of the green.... Only went round in 30 points and the driver was horrific again - to blame for 5 blobs...but the rest of the game is thereabouts.

Fragger just didn't get going and had a few blobs too. As with many places, our rough is mental - so, so easy to lose a ball. In fact Fragger lost one in the first cut! 3 Fragger-Toe drives resulted in 2 lost balls and the one on the last must have had a swing speed in excess of 140mph...

Another highlight was the appearence of a 5 ball in front of us from the 4th. Schoolkids who had been left to it by their Teacher. One of them dragged his trolley across the 5th green and got a good telling off for it! No harm done and a lesson learned.

If you're as wayward as I am with a driver then it's a nightmare. In addition, they haven't been able to get on with the mowers over the weekend so the fairways are fluffy and the first cut a bit shaggy too..
Add in the "no-run" factor and some of the holes are playing really long and tough at the moment.
So reasonably happy with 30 points.

Forgot to add the Champagne Moment - on the 17th, par 5, Fragger has hit short of the trees on the right. He has to play over them to get back to the fairway, lay-up and have a shot to the green.
As we approached he said "Mmm, think I'll get my Gentleman's Persuader out and go over the top"
"Just as long as you don't top it" says I.

Always fun to see who has the bragging right after you two play. I'm not sure after recent meltdowns Imurg has exactly risen to the peak of the hill. It sounds like conditions were testing and accuaracy over distance was paramount (that's me out on both coounts)
