IMMIGRATION

Nope. I'm suggesting that a blanket approach to immigrants is both socially and economically irresponsible. I'm saying quite clearly that there are people on this thread who clearly think that immigration is a bad thing.
I think it's a bad thing if unmanaged.

My only problem with immigration is the lack of effort successive governments have made to increase infrastructure inline with increased population. Those governments have happily taken the tax and NI contributions but done very little to support areas of need.

My experiences in Spain: welcomed with open arms by the locals and officialdom. Free Spanish language and culture lessons for the next few years. We have Spanish, German, French, Dutch, Belgian and Indian neighbours. There’s no cliques or ghetto mentality. The Spanish actively encourage integration with all sorts of official activities, and the immigrants have bought into the mixing in. Yes there’s the odd Brit who doesn’t, and they sound like members of UKIP.

We’re sat in a hotel bar, in Cartagena on our 25th wedding anniversary weekend away. There a wedding reception going on and we’ve been invited to join in.

Drop all the labels, we’re a gregarious animal that just wants to get on with each other. It’s easy if you open your mind.

Pretty much the same experience as my Sister who moved down to Ayamonte in 2013. Immigrants from all backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to integrate.

By all means take the mick but don't change people's posts please, that is a forum no-no.
I didn't change YOUR post, I reposted it with a highlighted change to support a point of view which is a different thing altogether.

and therin lies the lesson! We don't advoate integration (.... my great grandfather came here from Lithuania, he only allowed English to be spoken in the house as it said "if you can't communicate, you can't participate." ....I think "liberals" do it with the best of intentions, but in the long run it doesnt help anyone!

But this is a different discussion altogether...

Hey @Mrs Wiggles. Could I be so bold as to ask what current political party best suits your opinions? I'll go first as it's only polite. I'm a lifelong Labour voter but struggle currently as they don't really represent my views.
Oh, and I'm directly descended from Economic migrants who came here to escape abject poverty and raised a family who all work and contribute healthily to the coffers of this country.
I appreciate that you may have missed this, and obviously you don't have to answer, but I'm genuinely interested....

...and I thought you were in the Civil Service?

Yes but I'm old school!!! 😉😂😂

Besides I'm running for PM and representing the Monster Raving Pie Party!! 😂

These people are almost solely Muslim. They cross other countries with the same culture as themselves to get here. Why, because we house them and throw benefits at them.

I have read some stuff on this forum over the years - and I have provided some (some might say more than my fair share) of it myself - but this is just - well - just...

So this thread has it all, from people saying net zero movement, that others in UK are to lazy to move to get jobs elsewhere in the country, to Muslims being called out as basically freeloaders coming for refuge....

All I can say is wow.. Just goes to show why our society in general is pretty much a mess if forumers on here who generally debate well and eloquently are making such a pigs ear of the debate.

Net Zero immigration won't happen ever, its to hard to manage and that's been proven in the last 10 years alone.

It's not as easy as just upping and moving for a lot of people these days and to point out others that managed it, well done for doing it, I've also done it myself that doesn't mean everyone can afford to or should have to detach themselves from their families and lives elsewhere to satisfy others desire to tell them they should.

My favorite was the Muslim quote, please take a trip to the country from which that person has sought refuge, look at the conditions they are living in and tell them they don't deserve a chance to better themselves and just accept living in war torn situations or with nothing and no hope. Before I get pounced on for that I have seen those situations first hand and been part of helping them to and I'd do it again because it's the human thing to do, plus just because someone's a Muslim doesn't mean they automatically want refuge there are millions more hard working and doing a lot for our country, our NHS, our armed forces or many other roles that help people with such views sleep better at night in safe warm environments.

Does immigration and the means testing of which visas are granted on need looking at, yes it does but I hope that many that have posted on here don't get given a job in the immigration sector based on some views I've read.. Fortunately for everyone that's not constructed a well thought out view there are many more that have put their point across in a much better way in both for and against arguments..

Most, if not all refugees cross a dozen safe countries to get here. We don't have enough homes for the thousands of homeless people living on the street, why should we home people from other countries ?
Typical little Englander comment, why should poorer "safe country's" take more genuine refugees than the fifth largest economy in the world. If we do not have enough housing it is because home owners would not support a government that supported sufficient house building to ensure housing costs remained affordable for the masses.

Testify. Our housing system is mostly run as a profit generating system for both householders and property developers. Fine if you think things like housing should be completely left to the market, but if you do that you will end up with a dearth of affordable housing for those on lower wages or benefits. Yes having fewer immigrants may have a slight impact, but it will not sort out the underlying structural problems.

We do need tough immigration controls, only letting people in we need. Not free loaders or refugees. A lot of my tax goes on welfare.
I’ll be honest my primal instincts like me to look after myself. Not Everyman, dog, three wives and six children.

Population control needs to start now before it gets out of hand worldwide never mind this country. A social cleansing, war or a good epidemic is a good start.

I'm just suprised that the amount of money (quoted on the news) that each immigrant pays to the traffickers is more than most young people have in savings in this country.

Don’t let Mrs Wiggles know you’re ex-military!

All the financial issues and infrastructure problems could be sorted by getting the tax dodgers to pay their taxes.
Then we could look at controlling immigration properly.

Yeah, it's almost as if entire families have clubbed together to try and save one or two family members. Nah, that's not really possible is it?
