Ok, we all know it's important to follow the rules during competition, but when you're playing friendlies, which rules do you ignore?

sounds like bobmac has given the members a loose to hang themselves.

But in all honesty i play as tight to the rules as i can, because its pointless developing a game that is 2 different halves, the Buddy rules and official rules.

H/C For offical 16
H/c for buddy games 8

:D :D :D

To avoid slow play mainly if you hit a ball which should be easy to find eg just trickles into edge of the rough and then you can't find it for love nor money. I think most people will just drop another in the spot rather than go back to play from the previous spot.

In competition you'd go back and play another or the amount of provisionals I hit is scary but in bounce games keeping the course moving takes priority amongst our groups. It's bad enough getting stuck behind slow play without adding to it by playing every bounce game as strictly as a comp!

We do this on bounce games too using stroke and distance playing 4 from the drop, not ideal but keeps play going on a busy course

Incorrect penalty drops. Smmetimes it just isn't worth explaining to people that the drop they have made is incorrect, when they clearly don't understand what you are saying. Life is too short, and it isn't that important.

When we get to as tee box the first person ready hits. Also if I see mine in he rough and I can hit it I generally hit it then help playing partners look for their balls.

TBH this speeds our golf up a bit and it lets me take a few shots off the tee or fairway without holding anyone up.

Except off the tee, in bounce games I think it is ok to drop at nearest point of relief from where the ball is lost but with a 2 shot penalty.I have never played using this as IF IN DOUBT PLAY A PROVISIONAL and take a cursory look for the 'lost' ball to keep play moving.
Always encourage your fellow players to play a provisional if there is any doubt. It amazes me how often I hear "it should be alright" when a ball has been hit towards and probably gone into the rough or woods.

Sorry forgot to say we do it as 2 shot penalty for the lost ball without applying the distance penalty too. I've got a feeling it's a shade harsher than most of the members seem to apply in competition if they're playing with their friends. It's amazing how many sepremely wayward golfers you see coming in under 90 gross in the medals - hence we're petitioning for the monthly medals to be drawn.

Forget honour and putting order
Speeds things up
Putting out/gimmes
Obvious really

plus we're allowed to take the p**s out of each otehr in a gentelmanly fashion :)

How about
1.if you're playing a friendly in muddy conditions. Your both on the green and you friend's ball has got some mud attached to it. Would you let your partner wipe it off on the green?
2. Would you let your friend tap in a short put while holding the flag?
