My handicap committee has disabled the general play option on the app and also looking at previous correspondence pre lockdown 3 said they aren’t accepting supplementary scores. However the app allowed entry of a general play card then for the brief time between WHS and lockdown.

Are they allowed to do this to not accept general play cards? We are having three comps a week - makes no sense to now not accept.

What if I’d like to enter a general play score elsewhere? Would this hinder me, or is there a process I’d have to follow at another club?

I also read that this may be able to be done in the EG app in the future. Is that correct or was I dreaming?

If the course is in acceptable condition it would seem to defeat the objective of folk being able to submit all their golf rounds do that HI reflects their current form. I'd say they are not fulfilling their responsibilities if they disallow 'casual rounds'.

It’s certainly against “the spirit of the game” and the WHS and also puzzling.

Having looked at other clubs websites which are more informative than mine, it appears I can register at an away club and follow their process, though I should email ahead with my intention. I think that solves my main issue.

I've seen your comments in another thread that they're wanting the £3 for Casual Rounds. We used to charge that but dropped it prior to WHS to encourage folk to submit Supplementaries. Lots of folk did. We also have 3 Q Comps a week & are wondering how many Members will submit Casual Rounds rather than entering the Comps & as a result, the Club lose revenue for teams etc.
With the App entry available rather than signing-in in the Pro-Shop there is no way of ensuring the £3 is paid especially as scores from the App or PSI do not need to be 'ratified' by the H/cap team. I'd think that this is why they've 'turned off' the Casual Round facility........ by doing such I'd think they'd be in danger of being 'excluded' from WHS as the ability to submit EVERY round for H/cap is a core element of WHS. We're encouraging Members to put lots of cards in but, like your guys, wondering how it may impact on revenue from Comps.

This is a bit of a mystery at the moment but as I understand it you should be able to register for a Casual Round on their PSI & submit your score there as well. All a bit of a mystery at the moment but that is the intention....... not sure how quick we'll be there. Otherwise email an image of the card & who ratified it to your H/cap Sec I they should enter it through the WHS Platform..... again no cost.

At the moment the PSI option isn’t available . With regard to @Jamesbrown problem with his club not allowing casual rounds he really should go to his county informing his club he is doing so, with the threat of losing their affiliation it might cause a quick rethink.

That certainly does sound like it would be the reason why my club has done it and if not it still makes perfect sense anyway.

I believe you have solved my question!

Saves me sending an attacking email and making an ass of myself! :ROFLMAO:

I will need to ask politely tomorrow about that before I upset some one. I like this club.
I upset a previous club when I emailed the county. (Playing medals in peak season that were being played as none qualifying)

It's not a terribly popular idea at our place but I am wondering if the 'fall off' from Comps, if it occurs, can be made up by encouraging Independent Golfers to engage with our Club in Comps..... judging by most Clubs reluctance to welcome them it could be a good revenue stream as I don't believe they'll be as big a problem as folk think. It's an idea.
