I just got my handicap back after not playing for a few years. I am looking to enter one of the national golf competitions that have sprung up.

Can anybody recommend any of the comps?

What do you mean by a national competition? There are absolutely loads of open competitions up and down the country, have a look at websites like golfempire.co.uk and singlefiguregolfer.co.uk as you will see lots on there.

All depends where you are, handicap, when you are looking to play, how much you want to spend etc etc

good luck!

Thanks DarthVaga & drive4show.

I got a handicap of 13, there was a time when I was off 9, hopefully again sometime.

The competitions I am interested in is the national competitions that are mainly advertsied on Golf Empire. Me and my partner (he is off 14) have had a lot on Golf Empire, they seems so many options.

The comps we are interested in are the ones advertised on Golf Empire. Has anybody played in any of these comps?

you have no chance get down to +1 and your in with a shout.

Do you have to a pro to have anychance in these comps?

I was assuming papyt meant that the big strokeplay events will be balloted out at a very low handicap.

If you just want matchplay then there is the League To Dubai and Volvo that I know of and am sure there must be others.

played the 4 nations last year, was good fun, only downside for me was that the supposedly "regional" final was over 3 hours drive away, which when we are based in milton keynes didnt seem very regional. comp was well organised and run otherwise

will probably try again in it this year, have also entered the volvo singles and will probably play a regional qualifier at some point for the 4bbb.co.uk one (probably mentmore)

I can definitely recommend the fournationschallenge. Maybe because me and my mate done well helps, as we got through about 4 rounds, but just missed out on the regional final.

In the meantime we played and won at Royal Lytham, S and A as well as 2 other rounds. Enjoyed it immensely, but it does depend on how well you do and the draws you get.

Looks like the 4 Nations is winning. Just check out 4bbb, that looks good, it not being played on a matchplay format.

Really appreciate everbodys comments and help.
