I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

4BBB Comp again today, played much better than last week, messed up as a pair a couple of holes we had a shot on and ended up with 39pts, 42 was leading🤬

Had my first attempt at a 2 on a Par 4, sadly left it about 3 inches out to the right😭

Lovely day, good company and good fun.

My 2nd 13 holes in the last 3 months today and well pleased with 25 points (Should have been 26 but got lazy on a 9" tap in which I missed)

Last time I played was in Turkey last week, shorts, T-shirt and sun cream were order of the day! Today it’s was trousers, multiple layers, woolly hat and scraping ice off the car!

Anyway, stableford comp, 22 points after 9 holes, hello. Back 9 a totally different (yet familiar) story! Scraped 15 points.

That first 9 holes though. Jeez, don’t think I could’ve played any better. Every week I look back at my rounds thinking I could’ve done better here, that cost me a shot, shouldn’t have duffed that chip etc, but today it was definitely a case of playing out of my skin, for 9 holes anyway.

What a great game we play!

Played a best 2 from 4 at Newport today. A right mixed bag. But at least it's starting to dry out a bit.

Still need to clean every ball, mats in use and greens slow from overnight rain. Frankly I can't be doing with it.

Off to Saunton next week. Four rounds in the week and decent weather is forecast. I need to move house!🤣🤣

A rollup knock yesterday - playing off my R/U handicap of 4 (eek!) managed 33pts, including a double bogey blob. Now if I could only just stop randomly chucking in a double I might be able to play to my handicap, as off four there’s no room for one.

That said really enjoyed my round on a very lovely sunny day.

Played Fortrose on Friday, back to Summer tees and no mats 😎😎
Played superb in really tough conditions, easy a 3/4 club wind, 5th hole was playing a 130 yards into the teeth of it, hit my 24 hybrid to 4ft 🤣🤣
Won the £2 from the troops as well 🤣🤣

Back nine first today. Two silly doubles but no blobs, so 16 point front nine and 1 up in the match. Started the second/front nine well too with par, bogey, par. Unfortunately though, a meltdown was about to occur.

On the 4th, I have a 60 yard pitch shot and club just slides completely under the ball as it's so soft. You would think I hit a low-bounce 60, but no, it was an approach wedge. So double there. On the 5th the knifed chip returns and goes flying through the green - then as I go to pick up my bag the strap snaps clean off! So you can imagine what that did for my mood. Another double and I'm now 1 down.

Parred the 6th for half, but on the 7th I knife another chip which gets VERY lucky to stay on the green. It's just plain daft how my chipping can be fine until there's a modicum of pressure and then it's completely back in the bin. Managed to scrape half but my head is still scrambled and I slap a weak drive right on the 8th and into the pond - take a drop and duff my way down the right side of the hole. Triple there then. Last hole I scrape a bogey via clonking every shot out of the heel and fatting my approach.

I walk off absolutely fuming, so much so that I literally walk straight home instead of taking the lift off my mate (still sharing a car with the wife at the moment). Took me 35 minutes and my shoulder was agony because I had to bodge the bag strap in a weird way to get it to hold up.

Weather was lovely as well, sun shining, I quite enjoyed the front nine. But as much as I kid myself my temperament is better nowadays, the rage monster still appears every once in a while. Idiot.
Never play on courses with deep ponds or rivers. LOL

1 over par 72 this morning for 40 points.
The best I’ve played in 2 years. Missed a 3 foot birdie putt on the last.
Yesterday I went to the driving range and never hit a basket of balls so well.
Hopefully a sign of things to come.

That hole really can be any club depending on the wind.
