Hit a poor drive on the 1st this morning. Walked up to where i thought it was, eventually found it plugged, and played a reasonable shot to get back in the hole. Walk up the fairway, there is a spare ball next to my PPs. Turns out it's mine and I've played the wrong ball. Hit a decent 2nd to the middle of the green, 2 putts for what should have been a nice par, but was actually a 6 thanks to the 2 shot penalty.

That kinda set the tone for the rest of the round. Hacked it around for a very scruffy 29 points. Other highlight was playing the wrong club twice - first one I meant to hit an 8 but somehow picked up a 5 and put it miles through the green, never to be seen again. 2nd time meant to hit a 7, but picked up the 5 again, through the green again, somehow managed to scramble a par.

At least the weather was good,15 degrees, though it was quite bizarre playing in shirt sleeves in November.

Can’t work out if that’s an eye sight only issue or a sight and sense of feel as well. When you had the 5 iron rather than the 8iron did nothing in your brain kick in to think “this club feels long for an 8 iron and the loft doesn’t look right either “

2 days in a row I’ve managed to ditch work at lunchtime. Today’s range session an exact repeat of yesterday’s stripe show. Let’s see if I can take it to the course tomorrow or if it’s just a flash in the pan

Don’t think it’s an eyesight issue, I had RLE (lens replacement) in both eyes about 10 years ago and my eyesight has been great ever since.

It’s more likely it’s a lack of attention and my subconscious playing tricks on me.

Still baffled you didn’t notice the length of shaft and complete lack of loft on the club face

First round of winter mixed greensomes league. Receiving 12 shots we scored 36pts, which felt not too bad given my pp is off 21. Plus she had five lovely putts which on another day would have dropped - maybe not all of them, but perhaps a few . Dare I say that I rather enjoyed the format

Seriously, I turned up and the lads had told me the tees had been moved forward to the green pots and it was a stableford comp . Most of the lads had entered so I did. Suffice to say I got 16 shots. Anyway front nine 22 points but 24 in the fuddle.
Back nine another 16 points with 18 on the fuddle. Won the front nine so happy days. Won division 2. So a cut and some club vouchers.
Now I mentioned the other day about me finding a Bridgestone ball with some odd circles on it. Well I played with it and it was a thing of beauty til I lost it on the 16th.
Why does the game always seen so easy when you score well.

All 3 clubs are hybrids. The 5 is a Ping, the 7 and 8 are Callaways.

Played what is probably the last open of the season today at Romiley, it was a lovely day for golf, and I played pretty well, putting wasn't bad either. Now for 5 months of muddy golf.

I finished with 42 points, the winner 45, my bro 44. He never won a penny but loved it.
One of the guys he played with was moaning that the handicaps should be reset. He is currently top of the money list

At the wife's club today in an Open foursomes competition the winning score was 51 points, their handicap was 48.

second was 48 points off 37 handicap......

and the list goes on....

22nd was 39 points on countback.....

think I will identify as a female but will need to get my handicap changed, as I could not shoot these scores off the red matkers on my male handicap.

Got a late invite last night from a mate to step in and play in a local charity event this morning as his dad had to drop out of their team. Am sat in the bar munching a baguette with a coffee as I type

Really good set up, coffee and pastries on arrival and a small lunch. On arrival when signing in the club pro was handing out a free Sleeve Vice balls to every player. Based on handicap he chose what balls to give you, I got a sleeve of the Vice Pro Shade balls. The idea was everyone Tees off with a Vice ball for the pictures and gets people trying the balls which the pro stocks.

Was peeing down when we started eased off and stopped by the 5th hole and stopped by the 7th tee so the ball was going Nowhere but you could fire at flags. The practice has definitely paid off was absolutely striping the driver amazing what a small set up change & feel can do. Missed 2 fairways and even that was just in the first cut.

Greens had been dressed recently but ball was rolling nicely and with some naughty pin positions. Overall hit the ball best I have in years, putted lovely and for first time since coming back I broke par. Shot a -2 under par 68, amazing how this game can be when you play from the fairway.

We’re just waiting on the last group to come in, but as it stands I’m on for lowest gross and longest drive. Our team is currently sat in 3rd so fingers crossed might be some prizes all round and a cheeky little handicap cut after weeks of fighting the driver.

To be fair the Vice Pro was one of the other balls I was recommended when I did my ball fitting so for me it’s very much like for like. I switched back to my own PXG ball on the 2nd tee purely because I’m now used it, I love how it feels off the club face and it’s just that feeling of you’re playing what your used to especially in competition that way your not adding in any variables.

I went back to the Vice on the 18th so could finish the round as we started. Both holes I used it on the strike was good, flight was strong and stopped on a six pence even with a 5 iron into a small sloping green. If I wasn’t using the PXGs it’s a ball I’d happily put in my bag and enjoy playing, though I doubt I’d use the colour he gave me

First day on the course in a while, and back in the winners circle. 38 points was enough to win the Saturday comp.

Started terribly, was 7 over after 4 holes, but played the remaining holes 1 over gross.

For November, it was sunny and warm so a very nice morning

Pairs Better Ball league today.

Me (3) and my partner (+2) shot 62 (-8) better ball. We had 11 birdies between us. 44 points.

Individually he was -5 and I was -1.

Good enough to finish 10th

Another 44 point effort today. Sitting a little higher than 10th, at the moment.

It was utterly glorious to play golf on a November day and feel warm. The course is incredible. It’s a privilege to play on a day like today.

Played Stockley Park with my Sunday League football group (six of us this time). The greens were a bit of nightmare, some fast, some slow, all of them bobbly so the ball wouldn't roll straight - I literally three-whacked the first five holes, all bogeys. Finally made pars on the 6th and the 8th (won nearest the pin on the latter) and had 16 points at half way with two pars and seven bogeys.

Started the back nine with two nice pars, just started to think a good round was on and then promptly ruined that with two doubles. Four more bogeys followed, and then just about rescued the round at the end with a nice birdie on the last - the only putt I managed to hole all day.

86 scored (with 38 putts ) for 32 points. It was enough for me to finally win one of these footy golf days at the fourth attempt, ahead of 28 and 45 hcaps who had 29 points. Still feel like I should have scored better when the yellows tees were so far up we were practically off the reds. Driving was good, approach play was good, but the greens just killed me. Weather was amazing though for November, sun was out and I was down to just the t-shirt by the back nine.

Still coming to terms with how badly I am playing compared to just 2-3 years ago.
Lack of distance has become quite a problem as I am now hitting a 6 iron for the distance I use to hit an 8.
Happy to just put it on to the green these days rather than playing it to where I want to on the green.
The double bogeys are the real killers with 4 of them yesterday

At least the handicap has now doubled in those 3 years so I am becoming competitive in the swindles.

Yesterday 34 points and second place, 2nd week in a row with second place.
