Head Pro
First pre-work 9 holes of the year, played like an idiot.
That broom handle putter is paying off then?Nice little 18 today in typical spring conditions at ours. 12* with a 30mph wind which felt like 0*
Great 4bbb match which we lost on 18 with a lipped put, a few gimmes inside a putter grip just for pace of play but would have been +7 gross with a lost ball. I’ll take 40pts and walk off smiling.
Quite simply I was a machine. One of my fourball is a guy in his 70’s who plays off scratch. He is a lovely guy. Whilst warming up on the first tee I did a couple of practice swings. Bottom line he said it was rammel. He gave me a couple of tips. And bottom line I smashed it off the tee.
Front nine 20 points back nine another 18. Joint winner on front and overall. Happy days indeed.
I hope you shared a beer with himQuite simply I was a machine. One of my fourball is a guy in his 70’s who plays off scratch. He is a lovely guy. We were having a laugh about how good he is. I have asked for his bank details so I can just set up a direct debit to pay his winnings. He is a machine. Always on the range. He loves it. Best 70 odd year old scratch playing left handed player I know.Hope you bought him a beer or two!![]()
This is mainly just true of Skechers in my experience. Very comfortable but they don't last very long.Just heading over to Oakdale for 12 holes (most holes they've had open for a while). Even with my back having some issues I'm still carrying....might even carry a life preserver in case I disappear into the mud. Sent my note of non-renewal in yesterday.
And as usual....my waterproof skechers spiked shoes are biting the big one and letting plenty of water in.....I only seem to get one year out of almost all of my golf shoes. Might just head to AG in York and see what they have. The local pro shops only seem to carry shoes with pointy toes.....I prefer running shoe style.
Buy some sealskinz waterproof socks. Cheaper than new shoes and whether your shoes are waterproof or not becomes irrelevant.Just heading over to Oakdale for 12 holes (most holes they've had open for a while). Thought about the socks....but damp feet don't bother me. The real hassle is getting them dry.....need to take the inserts out and then the shoes still take ages to dry. I don't take very good care of my shoes....but my shoes used to last a LOT longer than they do now.Buy some sealskinz waterproof socks. It means I keep my shoes now until the grips are worn or they are falling apart rather than after the waterproofing has failed.
Just had a look, they are nearly the price of a pair of shoes from the house of fraser sales.Buy some sealskinz waterproof socks. Cheaper than new shoes and whether your shoes are waterproof or not becomes irrelevant.

Catch them in a sale and you can get them for £20-25. Sounds a lot for a pair of socks but when you work out the savings in not having to keep buying new shoes, they soon pay for themselves.Just had a look, they are nearly the price of a pair of shoes from the house of fraser sales.
I'll wait till I see them appearing in the bargain thread.
Have a look at these for drying your shoes, excellent bits of kit.Thought about the socks....but damp feet don't bother me.
