I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Out 3:30 for just a few holes - been reflecting on fact that my swing feels very ‘static’, quite functional though not very dynamic feeling - but when I play ‘Happy Gilmour’ golf my backswing feels so much freer and gives a natural follow-through than when I take a normal stance and swing. Realised that this could be down to the fact that with my HG approach my feet are not firmly rooted to the ground, in fact I’m thinking that my left foot especially is not so glued to the ground and left heel might actually lift a little.

So this afternoon had a go at letting my left heel lift naturally in my backswing, and I could definitely feel a better hip turn and was getting a nice strike and natural follow-through. I’m not sure it’s the answer, but might use it as a practice technique to help improve my hip turn - so use it to build my feeling of what my hip turn should be.

14 holes open, carry only.

Played out of my skin on the front 9 for 24 points (out in 40).

Bxck 5, 3 lost balls, 3 points!

The back 9 is always wetter, but the 10th was an absolute joke, the amount of standing water was ridiculous, and accounted for one of the lost balls. How I wish there had only been 9 holes open!

Absolutely shattered, knees are killing me :(

18 with CVG early Wednesday.....I am getting fed up with this cold wind but at least it was dry.
Nice 2 on our 1st (10th) and carried it through for 20 points at the turn..+2
2nd 9 was trickier as the wind was across the line of play...and colder.....and stronger.....
Still, 15 points for a 35 total (+8).
Out solo this morning for a leisurely 9.
Little wind so feeling warmer......didn't keep score as I played 2 or 3 balls on most holes but striking decently.
An issue with some gaps at the top of the bag..been trying various combos of fairways and hybrids and struggling to find the right set...
Off to a gapping session on Tuesday to finalise things...

Played Wheathampstead nine hole with the wife this afternoon. It's an easy course as it has three par fours that are between 210-260 yards, but I was still pleased with a 4 over 37. New swing slowly getting somewhere I think. No doubles, new putter was working well to save me once or twice. Still hit one massive pull with driver, about 70 yards left. 😆

My wife played really well too considering it was her first time on the course since end of November I think. She managed 51 for around 20 points. 👍🏻

What a beautiful morning we've had today. Slightly chilly but warmed up nicely and was polo shirt weather by the end.

Mixed bag golf wise, +4 on the front 9, with an annoying missed birdie putt.

Back 9 was odd, was greenside in 2 on the par 5 12th and made a double! Then doubled the 13th too.

Finished up +16, but still lots of good things to takeaway, really can't wait for the better weather.

First 9 holes since mid October. Course was fully open but as described by @rudebhoy just because it is, doesn't mean you should...... Hole 1, green has been relaid so we have a temporary short green, teeing off a winter mat. A few practice swings, address the ball, iron digs in 6" behind the ball and I nearly sprain my wrist 😳. After 2 seconds of pain I just started to laugh. Step back, go again, decent strike. And I was off.

Unsurprisingly a mixed bag. Driving was good, hybrid mixed, irons random, short game = no feel whatsoever. Greens were either temporary or recently tined so putting was clowns territory. We have to use mats and I really didn't enjoy it. I might take my ball to the rough next week, no mat required there and an allowable option.

Thoroughly enjoyable though and I'm back on the golfing horse 😄

Nett +4 in the medal in a pretty strong wind, hit it like a Wally for the first 5, good run of pars in the middle of the round.

Positives to take.
1- it didn’t rain
2- it wasn’t frosty
3- it wasn’t muddy

Stableford this morning, and a really strange round.

Hit the ball really, really badly, but my short game was absolutely razor sharp, getting up and down eight times. That got me to 34 points.

So some positives, but really didn’t swing the club well at all.

Played this morning and putted like a knob.

New driver set up and swing needs some practice so off to the range tomorrow rather than playing

What’s lovely morning - short weather , course drying nicely , greens running well and receptive

Just swindle this morning , ugly par on the first but then had birdies chance on the rest of the front 9 converting on 5 and 7 ( par 5’s ) to finish a couple under , back 9 started the same birdie on 12 the last par 5 and then proceeded to miss 4 more chances until a bogey on the last for a 2 under 69

Played a medal this morning in winds gusting up to about 40 mph. Very happy (apart from stupid double on 17) with my 6 over par 77.
Greens still running really well.

After my decent nine holes yesterday I was feeling confident for my round today. That went out the window within the first two holes when I blobbed both of them. Two-way miss with driver is still there, similar story with the five wood now as well. 60% of my irons were either fatted or full-on duffs. I honestly wish I'd never had the lesson now, should have saved myself 50 quid and carried on doing what I was doing. I thought I wasn't breaking 80 enough, today I just barely broke 100. Wanted to cry. This is exactly what I was afraid of when I didn't get lessons for all those years.

So bad I stayed out there after the round and played another 8 more holes. Three times when I hit a poor shot I'd drop another ball and then absolutely pure it for some reason. I suppose that's encouraging, if I only knew what I did differently.

Played 9 holes.

Driver swing abandon me
Iron swing abandoned me
Short game abandoned me

Can you see where this is going?

Putting stroke abandon me

Nice walk though 😫

Out again this morning, first proper round with the new irons so was hoping for a good one.

Hit the ball well, especially off the tee. Ended up with 39 points, so the good form continues. Especially happy with the wedges today as they have been a bit ropey lately.

Played to handicap today (13 @ 6100yrds)
Might've got two better if it wasn't for feral dogs on 10th fairway being a bit aggressive on my 2nd shot resulting in the only lost ball and a triple

No pictures on the sorcecard but there might be blood splatters if they get much closer and I use an iron on them

Did the dogs take your ball? Not a penalty if they did.

Played yesterday and played to handicap for the first time in ages. Missed the prizes by 2 points . Would probably have got 3 more but for 'mud balls' in the rough on 2 occasions.
