I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Stableford comp this afternoon, I had a great front nine 39, 3 over par and 21 points, steady start to the back nine 5 bogeys, a couple of 3 putts cost me but still under handicap, then we caught up with the group in front and lost all rhythm, a poor shot and a misfortune of having to play out of a divot meant a double bogey on 16, and driving into a penalty area was another double on 16, a 3rd double on the last and I went from 28 points after 13 to only 33 after 18.

A very disappointing end to what was promising to be a very good round

Funny round today.
Two triples in the first six holes left me on 9pts.
The next twelve holes saw nothing worse tthan bogey and I finished with 39pts!
Go figure. Should see me get a nice little cut.

I played The London Club today in our works charity golf day, there are signs of a respectable golf game is coming back… pretty good tee to green, chipping was average and my putting terrible, I could not get the speed of the greens and turned a number of birdie chances into 3-putts (n)

12 holes tonight -1 gross after 6 then proceeded to spaff 8 shots over 🤯 then back to immaculate golf.
Orgasmic moment.. 85yard 50 degree 3/4 shot played as a gentle cut to strip 10yards off it. Landed on the plateau green and spun beautifully to a stop in 2ft .. it was a thing of beauty! Playing partner asked me what I was going to do prior and I gave him the full break down and then actually did it 😳😎

A cheeky 11 holes after work last night on my own. Wonderful, a chance to try some things out. Barely a bad shot, plenty of good ones. Even the chips were landing close. The joy of being utterly relaxed when playing, no tension in the grip or swing.

The big experiment last night was noticeably transferring my weight when driving. I'm normally pretty static but I'm trying to add a bit extra. Definitely better strikes and largely still accurate. Something to continue with.

My driving is doing my head in at the moment. Front 9 yesterday, I hit 5 drives, all great. Back 9 I then hit 3 appallingly bad drives in a row, ended up ditching the driver and just hitting a 3H off the tee, fortunately that worked well.

I’ve no idea what was the difference but this has been happening pretty often recently, unbelievably frustrating.

Other than that, played decent. Ended up with 33 points but those awful drives killed my chances, scored 1 point on those 3 holes 😞

Massively frustrated this morning........
Rattled off 8 pars and a bogey on our first 9, started the 2nd 9 birdie, bogey and 3 pars.
Bogey, birdie to leave me 1 over standing on our 17th tee..(8th par 3)
Got a horrendous bounce which threw the ball under the lip of a bunker...hacked it out and airmailed the green in the process.
Chipped up and the putt did a 360....blob....
Down the last...perfect drive, great 8 iron that hit the firmest part of the green and bounced off the back...chipped up and the putt...does another 360..
3 shots gone in the last 2 holes...never been so disappointed with a 4 over 75 before.....
Nice cut coming though....

A 4BBB today at Crompton and Royton a very nice course near Oldham, My partner and I gelled very well for 13 holes, we had 23 points on the first 9 and had started the back with 4 pars for 3 points each, the 14 is a long par 3 neither of us were getting a shot and although we were both near the green with our tee shots we both took 4 to get down. I 3 putted from about 15 feet, that put a break on things and although my partner did manage 2 more 3 point holes, we also had a one pointer, I 3 putted. We finished with 44, winners had 47, My partner is going to get a very low score added to her record she was on the card 11 times and mostly 3 pointers.
Again I played really well tee to green I hit 9 greens in regulation but 3 putted 4 of them, happily my partner parred them all so at least that didn't cost us but another couple did, again the fault was mainly very poor first putts, in my defence I found the greens very slow, although my partner didnt have the same problem

Having not played for around 3 years ventured out for a knock yesterday with 3 pals at Hill Barn in Worthing.
Much deliberating and Micky taking and they decided I would play off my previous handicap of 12.
Started with a birdie and thought this game is easy, and that was me done with scoring on the front 9 😂.
A better back 9 saw me finish with a grand total of 20 points.

Just being outdoors with friends again after a longish break was great.

The course was in fair nick considering the little rain we have had although fiery would be a good way of describing it.

I thought about jumping into the medal today.....but rain is coming. I don't mind playing in the rain, but if there is a chance that things get cancelled I'd rather avoid it.

My club cancelled it's Friday night sweep last night, lightning and heavy rain forecast. We had 5 minutes of light rain followed by clear sunshine. I felt for the club, the decision was logical based on the forecast.

Today was meant to be an absolute deluge on us, every forecast suggested it, so my group cancelled, we weren't the only ones. No rain so far, the deluge is now forecast much lighter 🙄. Alternative plans have been made so it's too late to change. 😖.

I genuinely don't want the deluge now, good luck to those going out, but I am a tad annoyed.

Brabazon yesterday with a member. It's fashionable to not like it, and indeed I find the off course side of it too loud, busy and corporate.

I've not played it in 20 years and I have to say how much I enjoyed it. It was in great condition thanks to good watering. The trees have grown in an the holes are well framed, greens were really good. Bit of extra grass on them in prep for Brit Masters next month, but very true to putt on.

5 hour round due to a hold up at the half way house (needs someone to tell the geezers to move along) but it didnt feel too bad.

Match haved, would have had 32 points, so not too bad.

Left there 9pm, drove home on empty motorways, splendid!

Radar shows it coming up from the south. Hope it rains a decent amount....but I'm not golfing today:)

Beat my 8th best 5.3 with a 2.7
Could be down from 4.4 to 4.0 (given PCC of 0)

Next round will see a 2.7 dropping off.
So the 8th best that became 9th best could become 8th best again and I go straight back up to 4.4 🤪🤪🤪
Exactly this.
4.4
18 holes played in the rain.

Started the year 4.6
Put in some scores and got to 3.9
Then lost best score from last year and went up to 4.4
Got down to 4.0
Today I lost best score from earlier this year and went back up to 4.4

34 points with three blobs. Really difficult at times owing to heavy rain, so really pleased with my game overall, but a couple of silly mistakes cost me a really good return today.

The game is coming back… +5 this afternoon, with three of those coming in the last two holes . I played really well all the way round, I just got heavy handed with a pitch into the 17th and then pushed the par putt, and then left it in the bunker on 18 which close me a double.
