I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Foggy start....
Cleared enough by 7.30 so we ventured out
Maintaining my form at the moment by coming in between par and +2 for our front 9...
Only played 3 on the back 9 as "Grandad" was being lured by the thought of a mini breakfast..
Loads of rain yesterday and the course is very soft again..not much respite in sight..

Back to back Sunday roll up winner. Won £80 and cleared about £35 once I'd bought everyone a drink (Compulsory as part of the roll up that the winner gets a round). 41 points and didn't score on the 5th as I was rushing to get through a group who had let us through and made a bad decision behind some trees

Played yesterday afternoon with a mate at 15:30. We were the only ones out there. Missed out 17 as it was getting dark. Even the bar staff had gone when we got to the car park and our cars were the only two left. Course was wet in places but the fairways and greens were ok. Closed again today after more biblical rain during the night. Played ok and even managed a birdie on our stroke 1 hole. Probably the only time this year that it will happen🤣

Had you forgotten to bring some paper with you?

(Well played by the way)
That was towards the end when I knew I had a chance to win and the bottom started getting nervous

Had two trees in front and the safe shot was pitch to the front of the green chip on and hope to one putt for par but two putt for 2 points. Decided to aim at the greenside bunker and hit a low chasing hook. Hit the first tree and went right into t a copse and left with no shot back out

41 points, must have been a nice handicap cut the next day?

Played Cleeve Hill whilst on taxiing duty for the missus' step dad.

Some water on the greens due to all the overnight rain but generally in very good condition. It was windy though, so very very windy!

Played very average, had a stinking run of holes on 7 8 and 9 which were into the teeth of it but finished with 29 points which I'll take on a new course with a lot of blind shots and a 30mph wind.

Managed to time a chip onto the 13th Green that hit the pin at exactly the same time as a race started at Cheltenham so there was a loud roar... felt like a pro 😂.

Would have been had I put a card in. Given the forecast a few of the roll up were talking about playing 9 and calling it a day if the rain came down so didn't see the point if we were going to bail. As it happened the forecast for our area was way off and a nice day

Last week the course had just had it's green works and had been closed the day before for the weather

We played back 9 twice as the front was closed for their green work

Because of the sanded greens we didn't put in cars

I managed 21 and 18 points 🤣 goodness sake

Got out this afternoon for a quick 7 holes. Driver was reset and all was fine and dandy. Couple of 3 jabs but hey ho it’s winter still. Was hitting the ball nicely.

I was a late entry in a small group of regular players on a Wednesday, today there were 11 of us.

£3 to enter and different format each week with lots of chances for people to win a pound or two back.

Today was a blind pairs front 6, middle 6 and back 6 plus an individual front 9 back 9 and overall.

I had a blinder, 21 out 21 back for 42 points, came first in all six categories, won £15 and received much abuse from the group.

First medal of the year, kept pulling everything left which made for a few interesting shots.

Was +9 for the front 9 and +14 on the back.

The goal for the season is to lower my handicap but my index will be going up tonight, not a great start 😂

I had a lesson today, which worked on some very funky feels for me, hit a couple dozen balls after and all was working well, took that out onto the course this afternoon and….. a 10 on the first 🙃.
Stuck with it, few good holes, few not so good hole, finished with 90/91.
As the sun was finally out I played a few more holes, 1, 2, 17 & 18, this time from the tips, went to a sort of hybrid between the old ways and the full on post lesson feels and managed to play those 4 holes in level par, so the swing is definitely a work in progress, but it’s moving in a positive direction

A day out at Hainault - given that it's a public course, and suffered the same crummy weather as everyone else, have to say it wasn't too bad. Certainly a lot less squidgy than the home course. Went round in 85 - best round in about 18 months. Still a few silly/careless shots in there, but generally struck the ball really well. Well pleased and hope it continues.

PCC for yesterday was 3, I think that's the first time it's ever been that in my time at the club, only one person in the field played level with their handicap, everyone else was over par!

Forecast this morning was 30% chance of light rain.

Just started when I set off. By the time I got to the course it was absolutely tipping it down. Didn't have a brolly as it was carry only. Decided that discretion was the better part of valour, made my excuses and went to the range instead. It rained heavily for about 45 minutes then eased off, but I made the right decision as would have been soaked.

Was the ground not soaked? It rained a lot overnight in Morpeth, I was amazed it was open this morning. (unless the rain was in a band above where the course is 🤷‍♀️ )

Probably shouldn't have bothered.......
Strong winds ,that were supposed to be gusts but seemed pretty constant, didn't help...
The greens had no pace in them whatsoever...so you had to put the pace on the ball and , let's say, it didn't end well....

3 over after 8 (good for me) but then 9 over for the next four holes....

Completely lost my swing and it wasn't until the 16th before I sort of worked out what had gone wrong.
