I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

First 18 holes since October today, and first 18 carrying in a good few years.

I was running on empty for the last 4 or 5 holes and was absolutely shattered afterwards, but it was very enjoyable. Didn’t play too bad. 17 points front 9, 13 coming back after running out of gas with 3 blobs in the last 6 holes.

Had big supports on both knees , they don’t feel too bad now, hopefully will be the same in the morning.

We just played nine this morning. I can say without reservation that it was the coldest I have ever been on a golf course. The air temperature wasn’t the issue - the wind chill was ridiculous.

Course in decent nick albeit frozen solid. But the greens are looking outstanding following a lot of good work, which augurs well for the year ahead.

Went out on the MTB on Wednesday. My hands were not just cold, they were painful. My toes were agony. New boots and gloves sorted. It was the wind chill. 4 or five lads have now got heated Gillets for when they play golf. They love them.

Rollup yesterday - eventually got frustrated with my short game to temp greens, and despite it holding together pretty well front nine felt a little miffed, though not surprised, that my 20pts at turn found me last place in my four ball playing with three 24-26 handicappers. That said the short game frustration was of my own making. To sunny and warm spring and summer days I look forward.

We had a real feel of 41 degrees today and an unusually call day (1 club wind)
Poor front 9 with an 8 and two 7's for 48 but turned it round with a 39 back nine to shoot my 15 handicap

Expecting a cyclone midweek so hopefully it's past before next weekend

Another winter scratch match today - course on temps because of the quick thaw meaning all the greens were wet and top level very soft - played Dunstable Downs , its holes up and we won our match 6 up and the team was 3-1 winners

Good form continued today, managed to do something I’ve never done before and broke 70.

Was pretty simple golf, 4 birdies, 5 bogeys and the rest pars for +1. Obviously we are still on our blue course which is quite short, but with tough conditions today I still had to hit the ball well. Very much want to be in the spring and able to play off the whites again.

Big milestone well played.

Brilliant day out today with @Crow and @Voyager EMH. Really enjoyed it. Scoring wasn't the best with a 95, but I'll take that in that wind on a new course. Had a hit with some clubs that are older than me as well, which was interesting! In fact I hit the old 1 wood further than I hit my 2022 driver lol

Thanks Crow for hosting, it was great to meet the pair of you 😊

Ventured out for 9 first thing..Still pretty breezy but manageable
The top 6 inches of the turf is soft and mushy because the next 4 inches are still frozen.....should be thawed out by tomorrow
Carry only, we had a load of rain in the night that simply doesn't have anywhere to go...hence the 9 holes.
All holes were what we call extweather holes..holes cut on the fringes to minimise footfall on the greens.
Par, bogey, par start to be level 2s..a bogey on the 15th ( my 6th) and a birdie up the last meant a +1 9 holes and 21 points....can't complain.
With the rain due tomorrow courtesy of another storm it'll be carry only until Thursday at least...come the weekend we might get back to some semblance of normality.....

Cheers, good to meet you too. You scored very well all things considered and are a natural for vintage!
I started well but had a bit of a meltdown on the last 7 holes and I think I ended up on 95 as well.

Played today course surprisingly dry.

5th hole into the wind full blooded driver 174yds😳
6th hole down wind 275 yds 😊
Hit ball very well so pleased with the days golf.

I enjoyed it, but 40+ mph winds, carrying for 18 holes, not played for over 5 weeks and about 5lbs heavier than I was then.
I'm so tired that I've had to pour my beer into half pint glasses. Don't have the strength to lift a pint safely.
Anyway, getting out of the armchair twice as often is probably a good idea right now.
92 shots for me, I think. Might have been 93, but 40 of them were putts.
Going to take a week to recover.
Oh dear, Leicester have just scored.

EDIT: No they didn't - it was an own goal. Oh dear, oh dear.

Was in two minds whether to play this morning given the awful forecast. Decided to go ahead and play 9 in the hope that we would get finished before the rain arrived. First drops started as we were on the 9th green, 5 minutes later it was torrential, but we were dry and warm in the clubhouse.

That's because the putter that @Voyager EMH gave you reached its expiry date around halfway round ;)

16 holes this afternoon, first long-ish round since the knee niggles. First hole was shocking but then started to get going and dropped 3 shots over the next 11 holes. Last 3 were just tired rubbish the solid bunker set the temper off .. £1600 fees and the bunkers are pants 🤬 .. I was going to play tomorrow then Saturday morning but our bath is out of commission because the loss adjuster is a bully boy and has been for 7months , meaning no Epsom salts bath!

Played 15 holes with CVG this afternoon...course was busy.
The 20 minute wait on the 1st didn't bode well and it was just OK time wise but a bit slow
Steady and unspectacular golf from both of us but the 2 groups in front had started on the back 9 so there was hope...
Yeah right...got to the 10th and there's a group on the green (par 3) and group leaving the 11th...
As is, sadly, often the case we didn't get through them. The pace slowed even further, the temperature dropped as clouds moved in, the wind picked up and the joints began to complain
Kept it going to the 15th in a similar style to the front 9 and called it a day.
Nice to be out and the course is firming up nicely
