I played on a frozen course. Suprised it was open. But great to be out.
Same here, it was frustrating (yet funny) trying to 'outsmart' the conditions on Saturday, and failing in multiple ways. First hole is 180-ish par 3, all carry. No chance of landing on the green and staying there, so I laid up with 7 iron, pitched it on from there and it still bounced off the back regardless. After doing the same again on the 2nd, by the 4th I thought I'd try the 60 degree from the rough for more height so it won't bounce as far - went straight under the ball since the rough was sodden so left it short in a bunker. On the 11th I had about 80 yards left, I tried to pitch it 60 and land it short, but it still took three hops and ended up through the back. Later on on the 16th I thought sod it, tried to hit a soft 9 iron to land just before the front, accidentally flushed it and saw it fly off the back towards the warm-up nets. The only time I successfully hit a green was on the par 3 third, hit a nice fat 7 iron that landed just in the short right rough and trickled on.Played yesterday on frozen greens, tried to land it short and let it roll onto the green. Must have had one too many Shredded Wheat as I couldn’t miss a green, shame the next shots were from 30 yards behind!
Remember the 10th at my place..the downhill par 3?Same here, it was frustrating (yet funny) trying to 'outsmart' the conditions on Saturday, and failing in multiple ways. Oh god yeah, I do remember that one - I'd have probably just aimed for the rough long & right and chipped back or something.Remember the 10th at my place..the downhill par 3?
There's no way to play it other than pitch on the green...Friday lunchtime I used an old ball, pitched on the green....I think the ball ended up in someone's garden halfway down the hill...
It probably wouldn't have stopped there eitherOh god yeah, I do remember that one - I'd have probably just aimed for the rough long & right and chipped back or something.
Knowing me, if I'm aiming for the rough that's the one time I'd hit it plumb centre of the green. It probably wouldn't have stopped there either

Ha, that's awesome. I wish we had a water hole now, I'd have loved trying to hit a skimmer off the ice.
Our 16th is well protected by a lake, I thought the only way was to pitch it on the front of the green and hope it only just pinged off the back.... went miles. Playing partner decided to bounce a wedge off the frozen lake and it worked a treat. Crazy golf
