Had my best ball striking round ever in yesterdays medal. Was really puring my driver and irons. It was one of those days where you know your going to hit it exactly where you want too. BUT.....I just couldnt get the pace of the greens, they were so much quicker than usual and i ended up shooting an 83 with 40......yes 40 putts. Came 8th in the end and knocked .6 of the h.cap, but i easily should have been 5 shots better.

The crazy thing is that ive been putting really well of late too. So im now lay in bed hungover,.mulling over what could have been, and considering going down and doing some practise this avo. Feckin frustrating game!!!!!!

Hit the ball really well in very windy conditions, but could not putt for toffee :angry:

Ditto! Had a really good round this morning for ball striking both off the tee and my irons, short game was pretty much bang on the money too. Long putts were fine, lagged them up nicely but short putts were killing me, ended up with 33 points, blobbed 3 holes....if I could have holed a short putt I'd have been looking at a nice cut and possibly my first competition win.

My putting was going well in our comp today............until the par 3 10th............tee shot just off the green.............15 foot to pin.............and 4 putted.............SICKENING............it just went downhill from there

Cant blame the greens, they ran true and quick. Having played on slowish greens for some time, i just couldnt adjust.

I'm putting ok but I suffer form the other part of the Westwoods, the inablity to chip well. Get that sorted and I'll be shooting some good numbers. Last week when it had a rare good day and I got up and down 4 times in a row it proved how valuable a short game is. Hoping my chipping lesson today will click it all into place

If you hit the ball better you are likely to hit more greens and therefore your likely to be putting from further away. Also, greens are quck as it has been dry but as the growth hasnt fully come through the greens are likely to be a little bumpy still.
Work on distance control by staying still and rocking your shoulders. If you make a consistant strike with decent roll you should be able to judge the length of the putt fairly accurately.

I 3 putted 4 of the first 5 holes today. Just could not get the pace of them at all.

somehow manager to scrape single putts on 7,8 and 9 for 19 putts on the front 9. After 5 holes I had hit 26 strokes - 14 of which were putts!

it must be contagious, scored 36 in the new members stableford today, with one blob and 37 putts. It's not even funny. I couldn't buy a one putt, and I think I should play off the reds next week as I left everything short. The lads I was playing with thought I should have scored 45 points, which just makes it worse.

Roll on the Powerplay comp on Tuesday, I'll have two holes to miss.....
