Basically, on my road, a house is being renovated and there is a skip outside.

Anyway, yesterday afternoon, 2 slovakians come along and start emptying the contents onto the road to scavange what they can.

I phoned the police as they were technically stealing and also blocking the road with debris.

One of them then placed a bin-sack on the bonnet of my alfa.

The local patrol rang me to say they were very busy blah blah blah and would try to attend in the next 24 hours to investigate. I was very annoyed by this.

Anyhow, I then said to the copper, "listen love, if they put one more thing on my car, I will be out there to deal with them myself."

5mins later (seriously, 5mins) we had a police unit arresting the slovaks.

I got a lecture off them for "threatening words" but at the end of the day thats what it took to get a response. Disgusting, it really is.

Although a crime, it would not have been regarded as a high priority. Your threat has probably made them act to avoid further paperwork of you thumping them lol.

Same for all forces across the country.

That's a lesson for all of us to suggest to them that if the police are not going to act on our requests then we'd consider taking our own actions. They clearly don't want an escalation of events any more than most of us would, so this is clearly the way to deal with reluctant Police.

Should hae been in Ireland this week--what a joke our Police have become.

An artist painted two caricatures of our Prime Minister (naked from waist up), he managed to pin both paintings on the walls of two local galleries. A local radio station was in contact with the artist about the paintings. The local police rushed to the radio station demanding copies of all e mails between the station and the artist.
The artist was questioned about the matter and threatened with charges ranging from incitement to hatred, criminal damage because he hammered a nail into the wall.
Unlikely any charges will be brought.

What a total waste of police time.

I think we all could write an essay on how useless the police have become.

All they seem to be interested is an easy bust of speeding drivers etc. If you get broken in to you will get a lecture suggesting that it is your fault. Any damage caused to your property they will tell you that really it is a matter between you and your insurer.

Anything that might remotely turn contentious e.g that involves an ethnic minority or immigrant they will do their best to avoid getting involved with.

Police and policing in the UK are a disgrace.

I stay in a nice bit of town and any time we 've had to phone the police there here will all lights flashing quick as you want but when my mother who stays in one of the housing schemes has phoned they get ignored because they cant be arsed going into an area that is a bit dodgy ,for the chance of getting a bit of hassle because at the end of the day they dont get any respect anymore ,unlike when i was growing up they would give up a clip round the ear then take you home and tell your parents what you'd been up to.

I called to report some fly-tipping going on, was told they didnt have the manpower to attend.

So. I called back 5mins later to say that it was ok, I had scared them off with my shotgun, pretty sure I winged one of 'em too........ and they were there in 3minutes.

I said ' I thought you didnt have the manpower ?? "

Called the non emergency number yesterday as my neighbours from hell's son thought it was ok to play boom boom music loud and disturb myself and the dear wife, got told they wont do anything and they can play music as loud as they like until after 11pm. Called the council environmental person and they are sending a letter, but I mean no wonder people turn to resolving the issues themselves.

Parmo, the law don't do music anymore your council should have a noise abatement team who go out at night (we do in Liverpool).Whoever told you there was a time limit is lying what happens if you work nights?

In fairness to them they are pretty good around my way. I've got the same issues with my neighbour, only she thinks 4am is party time at the weekend!

(Well she did until they threatened to evict her :D)

Public Order Act will cover noise in England as does a Breach up here in Scotland.

TBH the police will deal with silly petty things like someone dropping a can of pop. But wont go and bust the drug dealer that they have just watched or somebody in possesion.

Thats why you hear about drug busts all the time on the news Mono, Operation Lochnagar for example.
