As I say, my mate did it and reckoned it genuinely made a difference. I don't really want to increase loft, since I was fitted at 9° and I've already got it up at 9.5° for a tiny bit of security. 10.5 would be launching too high.
 
I recently bought a paradym 3 and 5 wood from callaway pre-owned. Under £120 per club for "like new" clubs (brand new in plastic). I've tried to upgrade my old taylormade woods with bubble shafts before but they've managed to stay in the bag for a good 20 years. We'll see how these go.

6g is actually quite a lot, it should definitely help. Probably changes the swing weight of the club as well, that's like adding 2 strips of lead tape.

I'm not really an expert on swing weights and what downsides there might be to that. Hopefully none. 😄 I don't mind if it costs me a tiny bit of distance, because getting the new driver added distance in the first place, so I shouldn't end up any shorter than I was with the old driver. And if it flies straighter it probably won't be any shorter than a 50 yard fade anyway.

If it works but feels too heavy I can always split the difference and buy a 25g from somewhere. Quite happy to do a bit of trial and error to get it right.

If the swing weight is too heavy you may find that the club gets stuck in the slot and you struggle to square the club up to the ball. However it may give you the perfect weight and you swing it better than ever before.

Time will tell once you give it a go
 
Went for a fitting at PXG London South (it's not London, it's Surrey!) and was comparing my TM Stealth 2 against the Black Ops driver. To be honest, there wasn't much in it and certainly not enough to make me press the button however he also suggested I have a look at their new mini driver, the Secret Weapon. I have always been a fan of mini drivers and I had a lot of fun with this one. The dispersion was really tight and I gained a tiny bit of distance over the TM so ended up pressing the button on that. I do appreciate that if I hit the middle of the face of the driver more consistently then I would have more distance but I don't and to be honest don't have the time to do much in the way of practice. The Secret Weapon solves that issue as I'm playing a 43" shaft with 13 degrees of loft and was hitting the centre of the face almost every time. I can hit a 3 wood but the confidence I get from the PXG club (plus the added distance over a 3 wood) sealed the deal.

What shaft and set up did they fit you into?
 
2 recent golf purchases for me. Been struggling with hybrids for a couple of years, very inconsistent, so I’m trying out different designs and older designs and newer designs.

Made a boo boo with the first one, a titleist 816 H1. Not many pics on eBay but the head looked decent and it was £30 so I bought it. Arrived and it’s an x stiff shaft! I’ll give it a try but very unlikely to be suitable, should get my money back at £30 though.

So then I bought a Taylormade stealth 2 no. 4 hybrid, £70, really good condition.

Fingers crossed one of them suits me!
