i was just wanting to see if anyone else was in the market for a hybrid/rescue/utility club. i want one but not a full out and with an outrageous price tag. however at my club there is a titleist 909h for £80 and is in nearly perfect condition.

i have tried out a 2nd hand G10 but something just does not feel right.

Would anyone else buy the titleist for that price? and could anyone suggest other similarly priced clubs and the distance they hit theirs

thanks

I would recommend the Mizuno MX Fli-Hi range of utilities.
They can be purchased for about £65.00 online.
Lovely clubs, I have two, a 3 and a 4 iron.
I hit the 3 iron about 85 yards and the 4 about 70

Cobra DWS or TWS Bafflers are the best :)

I seem to be hitting my 4 iron better than any other club at the mo.

Smiffy thats some power you are using there ;)

The cobra is a top quality hybrid and ticks all the boxes. I have one and it only got usurped by the TM which was a present. I'd recommend either and as Cobra have launched a new version of the DWS baffler and TM have an 09 burner hybrid, try looking around for the older versions which you might be able to pick up cheap and brand new.

I picked up a brand new Cobra Baffler a few weeks ago for 70 quid from an online place called Golf Support. It was last years model and they were selling the old stock. They have a shop near me so I got to try it first and I love it. If they don't have any left there could be some in similar online places.

I am a huge Titleist fan, as many on here know, but their hybrid range are 'players' clubs, and you have to be on your game to hit them.

I hit a cobra hybid recently, (my mate has one, and is hooking it, so I wanted to demonstrate how easy it was to hit, and it was), and it is so much more forgiving.

If you are not a really good ball striker, no, don't bother with a titleist hybrid, although the 909s are better than the previous model.

I find a lot of the "game improver/higher hitting" hybrids (MD's, Bafflers,G10's etc) tend to draw . And with my shot being a grntle draw I tend to end up hooking them. Maybe its something in the weighting of the head. So I've got a Titleist 585 like Murph. It sits straight and goes where you point it but if you're not on song it can hurt. I've tried the 909 in various shafts but it felt dead.
The Callaway FT is supposed to be a good one but almost every one I've seen is a draw bias.

Pete, i have the 18*deg hybrid pal and its a beauty now i've learn't to hit it :D It's very forgiving and has dug me out of a few sticky places at times.

I know the baffler got a great review last year, but as always i would get down the range and try a few to see what suits you.

What do you play off?

My local range/shop/custom fitting centre has quite a few DWS Bafflers brand new. 1,2,3, and 4 Iron versions all available for £74.99, I'm thinking about getting a 1 to fill the gap between my 3 wood and 4 Baffler ( or I may get a 5 wood instead)

I can see there is only 3,4 and 5 advertised on the website, but I've held the 1 and 2 in my hands in the shop, very tempting indeed at that price.

or TWS Bafflers are available for £109.
