Okay so here's how my current golf is going at the moment..

Sometimes I hit 250y drives, sometimes I hit 180y drives, sometimes I top them, sometimes they go right and high. My irons are generally good and I've been trying to draw the ball and experiment with loft.

I've been to the range a few times this week with some borrowed MX-25'S and decided that I push my hips backwards and forwards and I'm losing accuracy from that. I tried fixing it and I am playing much better just trying to rotate my hips. My swing isn't going as far back but is feeling stable.

However, today I decided to hit the course with my buddy before he goes on his jollies. I went to the course expecting to hit just above 100, I lose a ball here and there and my score really suffers...
I decided to leave the driver in the car and try more with my irons. I went around the course in 89.. My best score yet. I wasn't hitting as long but I can see the improvements. I was playing the irons nice and hitting a few good 3W off the tee.

Is the score acceptable or should I try again with my driver? :whoo:

gooed shooting, very acceptable as far as i can see, play with wot you got,and use your brains just as you have done there,p s.the cards says how many, not how!

I lost one ball on the round and had a couple of bad holes, the course is called Concord Golf Club in Sheffield. It's about the hilliest course you could ever find, most hits are hit and hope they land somewhere. Felt brilliant up until the 14th when I Lost the ball and shot a 6 on a par 3, from then I had a couple double bogeys.

When I hit a bad shot I find it hard to forget about it and it angers me, I think if I sort that bit out I should find myself a decentish handicap hopefully.

i played with an 8 handicapper yesterday who doesnt use a driver. he had a titlest 975 driver in the bag and hit it once. most of the time its either hyrbid or 3 wood. he thinks he cant handle a driver.

I think the driver problems stem from people generally not swinging within themselves when they wrap their mitts around a driver.

I do it myself, I know I do and I think I am a good driver of the golf ball. I am used to long rolling courses so I would be stuck without it on them.

I can somehow pretty much always swing within myself when I have a mid and low iron in my hand... weird that huh?

Personally I'd stick with the driver and get a driver lesson and maybe a general swing MOT lesson. Sounds like the swing is working some of the time but there is just something not quite firing

It may be the new irons that lowered my score down a bit or maybe my change in swing. Or of course the fact I didn't take my driver on the course with me.

I have been thinking of having a few lessons but I'm not sure how good the pro is down at Concord in relation to other teachers. I don't want to have lessons with him if he's not up to scratch as others.

He charges £15 per 30 min lesson. Is this the usual price?

any reduction in score is good news it doesnt matter how its achieved, at the end of the day its how many not how that counts.
Many people choose not to hit driver on certain holes to play for position its then classed as course mangement so look at it as your course mangement has improved.
