Good to hear you're enjoying it again birdieman. A lowest gross is one of my targets but not achieved it yet.
As for me, my last 2 comps have been so comfortably in the buffer zone I'm still trying to work out how I didn't get cut. +9 & +10 were the absolute worst scores I could have posted but have been let down by my short game. Most will know I went through a phase of the hooks but my last 2 lessons have been really good working on eliminating all side spin from my shots and the last two rounds my ball striking has been better than ever. I had a great start to the year when I thought getting to single figures would be a stroll in the park. Then I went all hooky and it seemed as far away as ever as I just didn't seem to be able to get to grips with what I've been taught. However, I'm now sure I'll get there soon, I just wish I had the time to play some midweek comps - my boss seems to think my job is more important than my handicap
Started the year quite well and then hit a wall. Couldn't put a card together and the handicap crept up. In the last few weeks, although I've still had a couple of .1's, the signs have been there and I've been rewarded with my best Competition round in years today.
Started the year really well and came down 4 shots pretty quickly. Things were steady for a while but just recently, the putting has gone to pot. Tee to green has been really good recently but the ball will not go in the hole.
I know it is not the answer and lessons are the way to go but the temptation at the moment is to invest in a new putter just to help psychologically if nothing else.
I got my handicap of 10 in February. I had odd glimpses of good golf but nothing consistent so my handicap rose to 10.6. I was a bit disappointed but I reminded myself that I hadn't played regularly for >10 years so things weren't that bad.
I'm not sure what happened. I didn't have any lessons or start practising but somethings clicked.
My last three rounds have been a net 72 - cut 0.2, 39 points in the monthly stableford which included -1 gross for 12 holes which I was VERY chuffed with (cut 0.4) and 43 points in the St Andrew foursomes.
I'm LOVING my golf! My swing feels rock solid, my ball striking is great, my chipping is good and my putting 500% better than it was three months ago.
As I say, not too sure how it's turned around but I can't wait for Sunday!
Mine has been average and getting worse. Scoring not been too bad but a bit wayward off the tee.
So bad that I'd half convinced myself that the shafts in my clubs were no good for me because I thought I was swinging much steadier than when I was fitted for them.
Went in to the local golf shop earlier with the intention of getting a cheap driver in exchange for mine because Golfbidder had quoted a decent price for it.
I hit 5 balls with mine on the Flightscope and the guy said if it wasn't already my driver he would try to sell it to me.
All straight down the middle within a couple of degrees of ideal launch, good spin, good contact, and club speed within 1-2mph of what it was when I was fitted.
Looking forward to Saturdays comp even more now. Just got to swing like I'm in an indoor net looking at a projector screen with a picture of a fairway on it.
