Pretty good day for me, went out with my usual group for a knock about, finished second with 37 points playing of my voluntarily reduced handicap of 24. Not enough to take the money (the only woman in our group put together a top round of 38 points) but have scored well for the last 2 or 3 rounds so hopes are high for a cut when the season starts.

I been on a quest for a 230 yard club my 3 wood goes too far which is pointless

Went AG to try the new offering from Nike.5 wood seems to give me the right distance,went well just a little too high

Then to my teaching pro to have another go with the 909's again 5 wood gave me the right distance and flew nice with the Diamana Blue in x

Just wish i could try the Nike's with a shaft that would suit me iam kind of limited in what works.There is Ping demo day coming up so might have a nosey there

Washed car, went for 80 balls with my new GW, chatted to pro about putters....

Cleaned up old GW, took photos, lost card reader.....now unable to advertise used club

Report on my weekend...played yesterday and we had 3 comps on Turkey Trot,Winter Comp and a rearranged February Medal.Shot what is my lowest round strokes wise at Goswick with a -2 round of 66 nett 64 which also gave me 40 points in the Winter Comp and 39 in the Turkey Trot(off 1) so was more than pleased.On the back of it I decided to go and spend my winnings on ale with mates and got totally rubbered....

Today I was playing in a league representative match with my bro in law at Bamburgh against the County Juniors,despite being level par better ball in 35mph gales(par 3 1st is 165 yards and I hit full blooded driver to the green!!)we got humped 3&2 and it was mainly down to both of us having some real 'beer touches' on and around the greens!!
We were better tee to green than our opponents but I think that the youngster had prepared with a Saturday watching Saturday Night Takeaway with a salad and mineral water and not 15 pints and a curry and boy did it show!

Ah the old it was the last pint that was off excuse!! Good to see some of our forummers still prepare in the right way and if my body could take a night out like that without putting me on a cold slab (inevitable outcome if I tried) I'd have been in my local doing the same thing.

I played my first full round ever this morning
(Morley Hayes) tee off at 8.28 in glorious sunshine and finished the 18th in near blizzard conditions!
I didnt have the best round, but kept good pace with my two work colleages who play a bit, par'd one and had a fantastic day!

Rain and drizzle on Saturday, Snow, wind and more snow on Sunday. We were supposed to have a Texas Scramble today, don't think it would have been played.

Looking at next weekends forecast already as I'm itching to get out on the grass again. Four weeks and the first Medal will be over. Not a lot of time left to get the cobwebs off my game.

Last weekend I played with a mate and his boy who's a junior at the club. I played solid golf and the lad shot a gross 77 playing off 13. I was looking forward to this weekends medal, thinking of handicap cuts with the way I've been playing......hmmm think again...5 off the tee on the first and a penalty drop out of the bushes at the back of the first green into double figures 10, well with that start I lost a bit of interest and ended up with a gross 95. Whenever I think i've got this game under control it kicks me in the teeth.

The good news for the weekend is that my mates lad shot a gross 75 net 62

Not the best weekend for me:
My partner & I were knocked out of the winter league in the quarter finals.
We lost to a birdie on the 20th hole.
I was 7 over par for the 20 holes which wasn't too bad, especially considering the conditions.
I'm driving well (hit 9 out of 13 fairways with the big dog), and hit all the par threes in regulation. But my short game was dire (4 x 3 putts).

Friday, finally got out onto the full course. In fact the first time I had been out on it at all since the end of January.

Started badly, usual good solid drive followed a nightmare of a second; followed on the second with a pulled drive into the river. Putts weren't dropping - lines were good but continually a foot short; didn't seem as if I got going, at all but I must have.
Didn't total anything until back home, 34 points off a +4.
That goes with the previous weeks 36 off a +3 on a different course. - Something must be starting to work but I wish I knew what it was!

Went out yesterday with one of the clubs lowest handicap players, with the idea of putting in my FIRST card for a handicap. I think it was fair to say that it was windy, very windy. After four putting the first, I was thinking things couldn't get worse but I was wrong.

To be trueful I was quite embarrassed and lost my way/concentration somewhat. However my partner gave me a couple of tips which helped me towards the end of the round, and no doubt will in the future.

Driving home I tried very hard to put what I thought was a nightmare behind me, and this morning I woke up and looked upon the positives of the day, which in hindsight were plenty.

Helplesshacker thank you for your post about your round, not saying I would have beaten you but it would have been a close run thing. But it did make me fill better.
I know its a learning curve, and hopefully I will do better next time

Now where did I leave that mechanical digger?

Well today I had a game of two halves, in very very windy conditions, so windy on one hole that after I chipped onto the green 3' from the pin and saw my ball stop,I then saw it blown sideways down the slope and off the green.
Front nine I had two pars, one double bogey, my first 3 putt this year and came off with +8.
Back nine had an eagle putting from 10ft off the green and a chip in on the 18th after poor direction off the tee, came off -1. Hit some massive drives today though.
