how was your game today?

So looking forward to today but was absolutely rubbish could'nt play with the driver the putter or my irons the only bonus was i am a lot better playing out of bunkers as i went in so many of them and it was great wether.

Very happy today. Played for the scratch team in a friendly against our Chiltern Breakfast league team. 4BBB 3/4 diff, giving away 8 shots and we turned them over 4&3.

Me and my partner dovetailed beautifully both of us shot a 3 over 74 and ended up 2 under gross combined......happy days! :D

Played ok today. Pulled a score out of the bag by parring the last 6 holes thanks to my chipping and putting!

Round in 82, 42 out and 40 back. Wet and windy so definitely no complaints.

And i love my 80 quid blades!!

It was like I'd never played golf in my life! 9 points on the front 9 and 17 on the back in the monthly stableford.

Having had 3 rounds where I couldn't miss a putt outside 6 foot and all my chips were leaving me that distance (so no 3-putts), today saw choked chips and 4 3-putts!

Oh well, just a bad day at the office and more practice needed during this week.

Am i missing something Rick you played for the scratch team but gave away shots ,up here playing in the scratch team means exactly that no shots. :D

Played for the team versus our county ladies scratch team.

Strangely they insisted on playing us off scratch and off the gents medal tees and myself and my partner wouln't been any better than par better ball to win 8 & 6.

Really highlighted the fact that there is a massive gulf between us and them.Great craic on the way round and the youngster (15) was a great player and one for the future me thinks. It was a bit of a shock going back to the summer tees and having to hit my 5 and 4 irons again!

It was friendly played under the Chiltern Breakfast league format which is 4BBB, (18 H/C max), but yes, normal scratch team format is singles with no shots.
It's designed to give both teams a pre season run out and gets very competitive....scratch team won 5-1

12 pars - finished 11 over par :o

Very annoyed!! I had an excellent start of 6 pars and then started to listen to the stupid little voice in my head!!

One day it'll all come together.. :D

Didn't touch a club all day. No Honestly! Woke up with a very sore back and been in pain all day so decided trying to play or practice wasn't great. Got a day off work tomorrow and hoping the ibuprofen gel and painkillers will have kicked in enough to get a game. Despite walking around like Quasimodo's brother HID still insisted I helped her clear everything out of the garden shed for her garden clear out frenzy, go to the garden centre to then replace what we'd chucked out (I know) and then off to the tip to dump all the waste. Still in pain so golf not looking promising.

Got knocked out of our 4BBB winter league at the quarter final stage. From an early 3 up in the match our opponents had a brill 4 holes round the turn and beat us 2 and 1. I was sick that I put my ball OB 3 holes from home off the tee, in a new Ob on the course that it was only designated about a year ago and the it was the first time I've gone there

Chris

today was............. another mixed bag

trying out a new course with a view to join - opened with 3 pars, and STILL somehow managed to make a horlicks of most of the rest of it to shoot 89 which included further pars at holes SI 1 & 2......
sometimes I just don't understand this game

the weird thing is - I've now "trialled" 3 courses in recent weeks & shot 89 at all three!!!

Played 36 holes on Saturday and it was all pretty average.

Positives
-The weather was unbelievable! Could not have picked a better weekend for it. 16 degrees and blazing sunshine all day.
-Despite being absolutely broken by the 35th hole, I managed to knock one to within 2ft (170yard Par 3) to secure my only birdie of the day.
-My short game and putting was MUCH improved.

Negatives:
-Still can't get my new swing to work out on the course. Pushed almost everything..Mostly never enough to get me into real trouble but still aggrevating.
-Ball striking was pretty awful all day.
-I've now realised that in order for my to enjoy Beau and Blackmoor (36 holes), I REALLY need to work on my stamina! I was absolutely broken at the end of 36 holes and the 2nd 18 saw alot of very tired swings.

A massively enjoyable day, but the golf could have and should have been alot better.

Was meant to play @ 11:00 in our 1st monthly medal of the year but offered to help a mate out finishing a rush job for a customer.

11:00 came, not a breath of wind, sun shining brightly.........what a lovely day to be fixing up plaster board and skirting!!! :(

If I understood all those ball flight law pictures, it sounds like a step in the right direction though, strangely enough.

You can't hit a straight push with an out-to-in swing :)

Just need to square the clubface a little more and you'll have a nice draw.

Were they cards for your handicap?

They were push-fade's unfortunately :( Which I think means I'm still out-to-inning my swing. I'm fairly confident that I've got rid of my horrible over the top swing (mostly) as they would mostly start straight and fade rather than start left and fade (slice!).

They weren't cards for my handicap, just a couple of casual rounds with some close friends of mine from back home. I'm looking forward to the clocks going forward to I can get down the course for 9 holes after work and work on my swing on the course rather than at the range.

I know the swing is in there somewhere as I've done it before, just got to get it ingrained. I'm staying patient as it's only been 6 weeks since I started the change and I've only had 3 full rounds of 18. I was ALOT happier with my putting though. Much better tempo and feel to my putts. And my chipping was alot better (I love my MP-T11's!).

There's elements coming together it's the longer irons and woods that I'm struggling most with (which is to be expected, I suppose).
