how was your game today?

Our comp was canned this morning because the course was frozen first thing so Homer and I met up this afternoon and played a fourball with another member and Ali the head pro. Homer partnered Ali leaving Matt and I up against it. The match was halved thanks to a stunning birdie under pressure by yours truely on the last to square the match.

I shot 34 points (13 out, 21 back) and thankfully the R9 was back on top form after last weeks debacle. It was great to play golf in the sunshine again, let's hope for a long hot summer.

I did all right and had 30 points (16 and 14 back with three holes I didn't score on). I played ok up until the turn and then couldn't put a shot together until the 16th where I chipped an putted for a winning par to go one up. We all had wedges in at the last from around 100 yards and all had shots. The pro left his 10 yards short, front edge, I went 10 feet long and Hawkeyes partner went left. Playing last he hit a dream into about 5 feet under pressure and made the putt.

I wasn't overly happy with the ball striking but it was a good game and a joy to be out in shirt sleeves

decent day, 8 over par scratch for the front 9 and 1 over par scratch for the back nine, shooting 76 (64 nett) for a 3 under par round.

Also has a 2 at the par 3, 17th to take the money and finished 2nd in our club competition, so a decent day and quids in..

I will not be surprised to see you well into single figures come August Phil. Very steady player from what I saw, great shooting mate keep it up.

Also, that is SOME two at 17. Very difficult hole.

Not long had an e-mail from HowDidIDo:

WINTER MEDAL (19/03/2011 CSS:69)

You came 2nd with 88-22=66

Nice work!
Fabulous sunny day here . Played the final of our winter foursomes knockout comp and won on 14th. Cue 'We are the champions' :D
TBH played some scrappy holes and my partner did the business on the par 3s, but still a happy bunny.
Playing in first medal of the season on Monday.
On 23.4 from last season and would so like not to hit 24.
Fingers crossed.

Early Brrrr start but warmed up quickly. Knew it wasn't gonna be my day after wasting a great drive on the par 5 second with three consecutive fatted irons. :(

3 doubles on the front nine and another on the back for 33 points and 3 over handicap. If it wasn't for dropping some putts in would have been a lot worse.

Played at Crieff today and was pants, only highlight was my eagle at the 6th, tough par 5 482y all uphill, good drive then 3 wood to 6 foot and a great putt :D

Absolute rubbish - couldn't get off the tee again ended up with a N/R on the 17th. some consolation was a share of the two's.

Really disappointing after going for a few holes after work on Friday, with 7 pars, a birdie, 2 doubles and 2bogeys in the 12 holes we managed - felt like I was really coming into some form! :D

Bloody game!

still on winters so left driver in bag and only used 5 wood twice, 5 over was not bad, as greens are crap, just got to stop pulling my gap wedge
back on whites in 2 weeks for first summer comp, so course is going to be 700 - 1000 yrds longer, but roll on proper tees.
major green work in mid april so hopefully better and drier greens

Awful. Couldnt wait to get off the course. Mind made the mistake getting a birdie on 1st. Always down hill from there. Worse for my partner he eagled it and his game went the same way. Back for more punishment this morning

Won the 1st round of the club singles 1 up. All our 1st round matches are played Saturday and Sunday this time of year with 32 games per day. No holdups, just twoball matches going off for a few hours without anyone else on the course.

Disinctly 'average' for me i'm afraid today, some good, some bad.

Good - my 910D3 - awesome, hit some cracking Drives with it, this baby is here to stay. Hit a couple today out there at 250/260 (measured) so bring on the summer with warmer days and good roll, and 280+ might be on the cards.

Bad: My iron play today was very poor, - usually a strong part, but for some reason, it went awol, and I couldnt hit a green to save my life.

Hey ho, the sun was shining, the day was still, the course was good, and the craic was fun.
Bring on summer.
:)

My game was on the whole was bad with very good bits. My putting was really good (for me) with 41 putts,2 singles, 9 doubles, 5 triples. But the rest was terrible, (even for me) with a gigantic 136 score, (only 18 holes not 36), but its the first time I have been warm on the course, the sun was shining, and no wind, it was lovely and in spite of the score I really enjoyed myself.

Finished 15th in a greensomes comp with 35pts.

Very happy with how I was striking the ball but a bit concerned that all but one of the greens I missed was pulled straight left :D

Drove well, hit the ball well, two-putted every green (just like Tiger!). Bit frustrating not to hole any but every first putt was left stone dead, from 10 feet to about 50 feet, which is a great improvement on my recent efforts when I seemed to have the touch of an elephant.

Continued improvement for me :)Went round in 101 today, my lowest yet. This was with 4 nightmare holes 3x8 and 1x9. So I was +16 for those 4 holes and +15 for the other 14 holes which included 4 pars. I'm very happy as I realise I just need to avoid the silly holes and I should break 100. I'm getting close now.

Are your clubs upright?

The reason I ask is that was my bad shot with 8-SW, I had a dynamic fitting along with a re-fit for my irons. By flattening off my short irons I've noticed a huge difference.

No, they're 2° flat, and were only checked a couple of months ago.

It's not something I normally do, but I've been trying to think of turning more so guessing that's something to do with it.
The 3 shots were with 6, 8 and 9 irons.

Next week will tell me more when I get to play 18 approaches rather than 8.

Dreadful, just dreadful. I've only recently taken the sport up but todays performance was simply awful. At times I could have thrown the ball further. Oh well more practice and hope for a better game next time.
