I was representing the Army a few years back when we had a young soldier getting done for speeding 105mph, case before his was a builder caught drink driving 3 times over the limit, 2nd offence, his Solicitor claimed the builder was under pressure due to the recession and had turned to drink, Magistrate gave him 6 points, £100 fine and suspended ban.Correct Paul. I'm all in favour of a bit of discretion being shown but to amass 60 points is way beyond the law. The guy should have been jailed not allowed to carry on driving! Hardship to his family or not, he clearly knew what he was doing and should be responsible for his actions. Typical namby pamby outcome from the courts IMHO.
Soldier got 3 points, 6 month ban and £200.00 fine,
No sympathy for the Soldier, just couldn't believe the disparity!
