how to join a golf club?

Our club is £340 for ages 19 to 22. Think you should be able to use this for negotiating purposes, as it is one of the top clubs in Hampshire !

Im pretty sure south winch has a good deal, not that low but it is in winchester and therefore expensive for no good reason at all.

Trust me I have tried to find a house in the city...

Thanks scienceboy. I'll probably take you up on your offer!

However Royal's website say: £274.45 for my age. Admittedly it will jump next year. http://www.royalwinchestergolfclub.com/membership.htm

I'm not sure which course I prefer tbh. But given that we are talking about £300 in difference here I can't see South Winchester being interested.

Out of interest do you know Joe Ellis. He is the junior captain at South and is the guy who got me into golf.

Yeh I know of him seen him around, in and around the club as you do.

I know a lot of people there now.

I will leave it up to you but I belive you will enjoy things at south but that is a damn good deal royal have there! Any joining fee? There is not one at South Winch just to let you know.

Whatever you choose to do I wish you all the best!

Have played Royal Winchester, and it can get a bit windy. Quite open and a lot of hills. Would recommend playing before you join, as it is quite quirky. ;)

Sorry to hijack the thread and get all European Union on you, but how can clubs in this day and age charge different amounts depending on your age?

I get the idea that we should discount things for young people, to try and get kids involved in the sport.

But around that, why should someone who is 30 pay more than someone who is 25?

Equally, why should someone who is 70 pay more than someone who is 55?

I'm not saying I necessarily disagree with it, but surely it's no longer legal under the relevant age discrimination legislation?
